Emerald Specialty Polymers, a business group of Emerald Performance Materials, has introduced Nychem Poly4000 latex, a
specialized waterborne, polybutadiene
homopolymer for plastics impact modification and specialty adhesives.
The new product is the latest addition to the group’s line of Nychem latex
emulsions and further expands the range
of offerings into new application areas.
Nychem Poly4000 is the softest polymer in the product line and can be used
to modify the impact resistance of more
brittle engineered thermoplastics, a new
end-use application, and enhance low-temperature performance in applications
such as adhesives.
Historically, Nychem products have
been used as saturants and in specialty
coatings to improve the strength, abrasion and chemical resistance, as well
as other performance characteristics of
paper, non-woven and textile and industrial coatings. The company also provides the well-known line of Hypro 100
percnet reactive liquid polymers (RLPs)
to enhance toughening and impact resistance of thermoset systems that are
often used in structural adhesives, high-performance composites and industrial
maintenance coatings.
Once impact-modified polymers
have been synthesized with a Nychem
Poly4000 butadiene rubber core, manufacturers can incorporate these materials into end uses such as thermoplastic
elastomers, impact resistant plastics, hydrogels and other high-impact end uses.
Nychem Poly4000 is also suitable for use
in transparent materials.
Emerald’s Nychem specialty emulsions
are used in a variety of industrial applica-
tions, including paper, abrasives, tape, ad-
hesives, specialty coatings, coated fabrics,
coal tar sealing binders and leather. For
many decades, the line was sold under the
Hycar brand, which was one of the first
synthetic latex offerings, known for its
quality and superior technology founda-
tion. Emerald rebranded the product line
following the divestiture of the business
from its predecessor company.
Ross Introduces SysCon
Control Panels with Type X
Purge System
Ross SysCon has broadened its offering
of control panels designed for use in Class
1 Div 1 hazardous environments. These
panels can now be supplied with a fully
automatic Type X Purge System which
forces clean air through the enclosure until all hazardous gases are removed. The
system then maintains a slight positive
pressure within the panel.
The NEMA 4X Operator Stations
features a 15” color touchscreen with
Ethernet communications and an
Emergency Stop button with hermetically
sealed contact block. The Type X Purge
System includes a 24-volt power supply.
These UL-listed Operator Stations are designed for use with a remote PLC System
to ensure full operational functionality of
the equipment they control.
Ross SysCon is a full service machine
and controls fabrication facility. It employs a diverse group of veteran process
control engineers, designers and programmers with decades of experience
building custom control panels, HMI,
PLC controls, recipe systems and SCADA
packages for the pharmaceutical, adhesives, coatings, oil & gas, pulp & paper,
chemicals, plastics and other industries.
Evonik Introduces TEGO
Dispers 747 W, Additive for
Intense Reds and Yellows
TEGO Dispers 747 W has been specially
developed for water-based iron oxide
concentrates in architectural applications.
The additive combines the advantages
of electrostatic stabilization with those of
steric stabilization. As a result, this pro-
vides lasting pigment stabilization for a
uniformly high level of color intensity,
even when stored for long periods of time.
In addition, the additive lowers the vis-
cosity of the pigment concentrate. This
allows the concentrate to absorb more
pigment, reducing the amount of concen-
trate needed to cover a given surface area.
TEGO Dispers 747 W is suitable for
water-based, inorganic pigment con-
centrates and demonstrates excellent
processing characteristics in the tinting
process, according to the company.
Brookfield/AMETEK
Introduces New DVE
Viscometer
Brookfield/AMETEK has introduced the
DVE Viscometer featuring a new user
interface and keypad. The updated DVE
now has a contemporary design, adopting the look and feel of the DV1, DV2T
and DV3T family.
The display features distinctive alphanumeric characters that are easy to view,
both close up and at distance. The bubble
level has been conveniently situated on
the front of the instrument below the display panel so that users can easily adjust
the instrument for true vertical position.
The updated DVE also offers a
choice of scientific units for viscosity
measurement including both cgs units:
cP (centipoises) and P (Poise), and SI
units: Pa-s (Pascal-seconds) and mPa-s
(milliPascal-seconds).
Viscosity test parameters including
spindle identity and rotational speed can
now be quickly selected from a table in
the instrument’s memory. And, the new
display shows test control parameters
(spindle, speed) and measured values (%
torque, viscosity).
