Company Description
As one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies,
Clariant contributes to value creation with innovative and sustainable solutions for customers from many industries. Our
portfolio is designed to meet very specific needs with as much
precision as possible. At the same time, our research and development is focused on addressing the key trends of our time. These
include energy efficiency, renewable raw materials, emission-free
mobility, and conserving finite resources. Our business units are
organized into four Business Areas: Care Chemicals, Natural
Resources, Catalysts and Plastics & Coatings.
Clariant’s Business Unit Pigments is a leading global provider
of high performance and economic organic pigments, dispersions
and dyes used in applications such as Automotive, Architectural
and Industrial Coatings. We strive to develop innovative concepts
and solutions based on the requirements of our customers, such as
our Easily Dispersible pigments, which enable increased efficiency
of paint manufacturing at lower costs.
Markets Served
Clariant’s pigments business focuses on five main market segments,
including coatings, paints, printing, plastics, consumer products
and other special applications.
We serve customers of all sizes in the automotive, industrial
and architectural coatings industries, the plastics industry, special applications, and also provide colorants used in traditional,
inkjet and laser printing.
Technologies
Clariant offers innovative pigments for sustainable paint production, including a wide variety of pigments that carry our
Eco Tain® sustainability label. Clariant’s quinacridone pigments,
including Hostaperm® Pink E, are created with environmentally-friendly bio-succinic acids fermented from renewable, natural
carbohydrates such as cornhusks and sugarcane byproducts,
rather than petrochemicals.
Our Eco Tain products undergo rigorous analysis prior to certification that proves the product’s sustainability based on how
it affects people, planet and performance. Quinacridone Pigment
Red 122 and Pigment Violet 19, along with many of our other
pigments, fulfill the Eco Tain criteria.
As a reliable partner we have established a flexible worldwide
production network that is actively committed to environmental
protection and safety in all activities. Clariant has developed
regulatory expertise over the years with product ranges such as
pigment dispersions especially designed for new generation of
low VOC and VOC free architectural paints.
Technical Services
With our acknowledged experience in developing pigments and
anticipating consumer and regulatory evolution, our Technical
Service Team is uniquely able to provide color solutions, from
economic to high performance, from water-based to solvent-based, from powder pigments to pigment dispersions.
We understand that each application requires a specific paint
formulation related to the performance expectations, application process and esthetic effect. The coating must create the
right color and opacity on the substrate and has to enhance the
substrate’s resistance to the impact of its environmental conditions. We serve our customers with individual solutions and the
ability to provide testing in customized systems. Our pigments
provide the color as well as supporting the performances of the
final application.
