Min-U-Gel® 400 attapulgite product is a high-quality gellant
clay that offers one of the best values in rheology modi;cation.
For more than 40 years it has been adding distinct performance
and cost advantages to paints & coatings and numerous other
liquid systems. This easy-to-use, low-cost thixotropic thickener
and suspension agent is a trusted product for stabilizing a wide
range of mixtures and improving their application properties.
It can partially replace or enhance other rheology modi;ers to
lower cost and improve overall performance.
When Formulating
Min-U-Gel® 400 gellant clay product disperses easily in almost
any type of liquid. It provides a wide latitude in formulating
since it is inert, tolerates most physical and chemical environments and is compatible with other additives. It does not need
special activators, solvents or heat. In non-aqueous systems a
surfactant is recommended for optimal performance.
During Application
Min-U-Gel® 400 rheology modi;er bene;ts many optical and
application properties. In coatings, it provides excellent ;ow and
leveling and promotes syneresis control, pigment suspension, sag
resistance, ;lm build, spatter resistance, spreadability, feather-
ing, tint strength and hiding. It provides fast thixotropic recovery
without fading, even under repeated or prolonged shear. It also
resolves problems with organic pigment ;ooding and ;oating.
Extending Shelf-Life
Min-U-Gel® 400 thixotropic thickener maintains a stable gel
and reduces liquid separation and settling. It is insoluble, non-swelling and does not contribute to viscosity creep. It is stable
over a wide pH, chemical and temperature range.
