Sherwin-Williams Launches High Temperature,
High Pressure-Resistant Tank Lining

Sherwin-Williams Protective and Marine Coatings has launched Nova-Plate 325, an extended lifecycle, 100 percent solids tank lining for high temperature crude oil, produced water and frac tank applications. Additionally, Nova-Plate 325 is appropriate for universal “swing service” applications in refined fuel and ethanol service.

Nova-Plate 325 was designed for use both onshore and offshore where conventional systems cannot withstand contents that have been extracted under pressure, and at temperatures as high as 300˚ F (150˚ C) for crude oil and 210˚ F (99˚ C) for produced water.

With Nova-Plate 325, asset owners can expect a fast return to service, with the drying schedule allowing for foot traffic in six hours and cure to service in 48 hours, for a typical 20 mil DFT application at 77˚ F ( 25˚ C). In rehabilitation applications, Nova-Plate 325 can be applied in a single coat up to 60 mils DFT.

Cortec’s MCI-2019 Sealer
For Concrete Structures

MCI-2019 is a non-toxic, environmentally safe, 40 percent silane, solvent-based concrete sealer utilizing migrating corrosion inhibitor (MCI) technology from Cortec. The MCI action allows this product to migrate through even the densest concrete according to the company, therefore providing superior protection against the harmful effects of corrosion. It seeks out embedded reinforcement to form a protective monomolecular corrosion-in-hibiting layer on the steel. The migratory inhibitor reduces further corrosion and increases surface abrasion resistance.

MCI-2019 is a small molecule product that can penetrate deep into concrete providing repellency by chemically reacting with the cementitious substrate with proper application.

Treated substrates are hydrophobic and retain their original appearance. MCI-2019 seals surface pores, which prevents intrusion of chloride and

carbonation and protects from the ingress of wind-driven rain.

Treated concrete surfaces remain fully breathable and their natural moisture-va-por transmission is not affected. An alkaline environment such as new concrete will catalyze the reaction and speed the formation of MCI-2019’s hydrophobic surface.

Also available is MCI-2019 AG, a special version of MCI-2019 containing a green fugitive dye to confirm application; which fades in time. MCI-2019 blocks carbonation and chloride ion intrusion and helps protect against acid and chemical attack. It does not contain nitrites, phosphates, or chromates.

BASF Adds FGuard 3D
Paint to Product Range

BASF has added new FGuard 3D paint system to its range in Europe. With its pore structures and grain, the newly developed system gives decorative foil for furniture an appearance resembling real wood. Without having to use costly real wood, users can use foil coatings to lend a natural wood appearance to doors and furniture.

With the FGuard 3D method, the first step involves using a printing system to print a multi-color decorative pattern on pre-impregnated paper. The new FGuard 3D pore structure paint is applied in the final printing unit. In the next step, a transparent topcoat is applied to the coated paper on a paintline.

The end product, referred to as “finish foil,” is used to provide furniture, doors, and floor paneling with decorative surface protection. Coating the foils is easier, quicker and more efficient than coating assembled furniture, for example. That saves time and money, according to the company.

Kelly-Moore Paints Launches The ColorStudio Collection Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Inc. has launched The ColorStudio Collection, the

company’s newest color system, featuring 1,721 new colors reflecting the latest trends in today’s homes, according to the company. These colors are inspired by the light, architecture, neighborhoods and spirit of the West. Additionally, each color is made with zero-VOC colorants, allowing Kelly-Moore’s products to maintain excellent interior air quality during application without sacrificing performance, the company reported. The ColorStudio Collection is the newest color system available.
