Sartomer Europe is launching PRO22019, a new polyester acrylate specifically developed to provide
enhanced adhesion to a wide variety of
plastic substrates.
The composition of PRO22019 allows
the customer to formulate UV-curable inks
and coatings that meet current regulatory
standards for the food packaging sector.
Stringent regulatory constraints apply
to certain sectors of the UV industry, in
particular relating to the use of UV inks
and coatings for food packaging. It is
therefore necessary for the formulator to
address this aspect in addition to the fundamental requirements for high adhesion,
reactivity and surface hardness.
The new PRO22019 offers:
• Excellent adhesion to a wide
range of plastic substrates
• Superior cure response with both
UV and LED systems
• Hard cured films demonstrating
improved scratch resistance
• Low yellowing
• Full compliance with existing food
packaging regulations for the for-
mulation of high-performance
UV-curable inks and coatings.
Union Process Manufactures
Newly Designed Pilot-Sized
Mill Specifically for
Cryogenic Grinding
Union Process, Inc. has manufactured a
pilot-sized mill for cryogenic grinding
with a specially designed stainless steel
insulated cryogenic milling chamber.
Chuck Major, sales manager for
Union Process, noted, “This unique mill
features a special cryogenic controller
with temperature probe to help maintain
a consistent liquid nitrogen level in the
milling chamber.”
The S5 pilot-sized mill has a cryo-
genic cover with vent and a phase
separator, along with two charging
ports for added versatility. The mill
has an actuated ball valve assembly
that enables remote discharge of the
liquid nitrogen slurry. Featuring a 10
HP explosion-proof motor and electri-
cals, the mill also has a variable fre-
quency drive to control agitator speed.
The drive displays Hz, RPM and HP.
An operator station is mounted on the
unit with start/stop push buttons and a
speed potentiometer.
Ross SysCon Unveils
Wireless Control System
Ross SysCon Control Panels are now
offered with wireless connection allowing users to access the PLC system using tablets, laptops and smartphones via
Ethernet, WLAN or Bluetooth.
As part of the controls package, Ross
can supply an intrinsically safe tablet
enabling end users to control the panel
from non-hazardous and hazardous locations, including Class 1 Division 1.
With a 12-hour battery life on the tablet,
operators have ample time to complete
necessary tasks. Additional tablets can
be provided for multiple shift applications. The 100-meter range of the wireless connection allows users to move
freely on the job site.
Other control panel features offered
include fan and ventilation kit, light tree
with audible alarm functions, color touch
screen HMI and USB ports for data acquisition in a CSV format.

Cargill Introduces
Polyaspartic Ester
has launched a breakthrough polyaspar-
tic ester product, Altor 205, which will
fulfill a longstanding industry need for a
coating that delivers faster return to ser-
vice (cure time) with significantly longer
working time (pot life). By combining
these benefits, Altor 205 allows users to
cover more square footage in less time,
which can reduce labor time and enable
them to take on more jobs.
Altor 205 Polyaspartic Ester was
formulated for use in coatings for in-
door and outdoor applications, on con-
crete floors and primed steel surfaces.
When cured with an aliphatic poly-
isocyanate, it creates a coating with a
high gel time in addition to other per-
formance benefits that exceed industry
standards, including:
• a longer pot life— 60 minutes,
compared to the typical 25-30
minutes
• improved hardness develop-
ment—yielding faster return to
service over industry blends,
which are typically made up of
both 25-minute and 420-minute
gel time polyaspartic esters
• significantly faster dry through
time—23-minutes hard dry
time compared to the 12-hour
standard
The introduction of Altor 205 expands
Cargill’s solvent-free, UV resistant, polyas-
partic ester product offerings, which also
includes Altor 200, 201 and 202. CW
