Diamond Vogel recently intro- duced Avalon, an ultra-premium latex paint engineered to save
homeowners and professional painting
contractors time and effort. Avalon hides
better than traditional wall paints allowing more surface to be covered with less
work, the company reports. It has exceptional flow and leveling resulting in
a smooth, even paint film helping novice
painters look like experts. Avalon is extremely durable and stain resistant keeping painted surfaces looking new longer.
“Our customers will delight in the
amount of quality and value Avalon provides,” said Doug Vogel, vice-president of
trade marketing, Diamond Vogel Paints.
“Avalon is the next step in our ongoing
commitment to provide our customers with paint that delivers unparalleled
quality. We can’t wait to have them try it.”
One of the unique features of Avalon
is the new Ultra White Base. It is exceptionally white ensuring colors have incredible depth, vibrancy and clarity while
still having remarkable hide. Ultra White
Base has 25 percent more hiding pigment
than the previous Pure White Base delivering full color opacity at thinner paint
film thicknesses.
Avalon is available in flat, matte, eggshell, satin and semi-gloss. It can be tinted
to thousands of color possibilities.
PPG Introduces KWIKSPAR
600 and 600SG Coatings
for Faster Return-to-Service
PPG has introduced KWIKSPAR 600 and
Kwikspar 600SG polyaspartic coatings,
a line of corrosion-resistant, direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings formulated with
advanced film-build and fast-cure characteristics to improve throughput in field
and shop applications.
In highly corrosive environments,
Kwikspar 600 (full-gloss) and Kwikspar
600SG (semi-gloss) coatings can be
overcoated on AMERCOAT 370 or
SIGMAFAST 278 epoxy primers to
provide an ultra-fast-drying alternative
to traditional three-coat corrosion protection systems. In low-to-moderately
corrosive environments, one coat of
Kwikspar 600 or Kwikspar 600SG can
replace traditional two-coat epoxy/ure-thane systems.
Diane Kappas, PPG vice president,
protective and marine coatings, Americas,
said the technology behind Kwikspar
polyaspartic coatings makes them highly
cost-effective solutions for steel building
and structural components that require
excellent corrosion resistance, weathering, and gloss and color retention.
“When Kwikspar coatings are ap-
plied to steel in the shop, their ability
to cure quickly accelerates production
of finished parts,” she explained. “When
applied in the field for maintenance or
new construction projects, they have
high film build, which enables appli-
cators to achieve a desired finish more
quickly. The coatings also can be applied
directly to steel. The result is an exclu-
sive combination of benefits that helps
owners and contractors save time, labor
and material cost, and return their assets
to service quickly.”
Formulated from 73 percent sol-
ids, Kwikspar coatings cure up to eight
times faster than standard polyurethane
coatings in a 4-mil thickness on a low-
temperature substrate. They also exhibit
exceptional durability, flexibility and
abrasion resistance.
PPG’s protective and marine coatings
(PMC) products protect customer assets
in some of the world’s most demanding conditions and environments, such
as projects in energy, infrastructure and
marine markets. The company’s PMC
product lines include the Amercoat and
SIGMA COATINGS brands.
Axalta Introduces Latest
Addition to Internal Pipe
Coating Line
Axalta Coating Systems has introduced
the latest addition to its high-temperature,
corrosion resistant internal pipe coatings
with the release of Nap-Gard 7-0016, a
thermosetting epoxy powder that is designed to provide excellent chemical resistance in temperatures up to 150˚C (302˚F).
“Axalta is excited to bring another innovative product to its internal pipe coating line,” said Meghan Hodge, Axalta
global product marketing manager,
Functional Coatings.
The environments explored by oil and
gas operators today have higher temperatures and concentrations of hydrogen
sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), and
other gas contaminants. These conditions
require the use of costly metal chrome
alloys to avoid pipeline corrosion and
failure. Axalta’s new generation of high-temperature coatings offer a low cost alternative to protect the internal diameter
of the world’s pipelines.
Axalta’s Nap-Gard collection of powder coatings are used on external and
internal oil, gas and water pipelines with
single, dual and multi-layer application
options. Nap-Gard also provides corrosion protection solutions that can be used
to coat valves, fittings and rebar. Axalta’s
functional coatings offer solutions for
epoxy-based coating applications and are
designed to provide superior corrosion
protection for products that are used in
the most demanding environments. CW
