Trading up: TradeBeam, a provider of SaaS-based
global trade management (GTM) solutions,
launches GTM 3. 5. The new version includes
expanded language support for global trade content, enhanced Automated Export System (AES)
functionality, and other auditing features.
The new release features internationalization
and localization language support for restricted-party screening (RPS), simplifying the compliance
process. The new internationalization features create improved RPS matching capabilities under
Section 326 of the USA Patriot Act, including sales
to foreign nationals and/or to foreign subsidiaries.
GTM 3. 5 also features detailed auditing and
document archival capabilities, including historical product information for reporting and
auditing purposes. The AES filing capability is
designed to make it easier for exporters to self-file to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

A switch in time: RailAmerica, an owner and
operator of regional and short-line railroads,
has launched a new contract-switching business to serve industrial customers. With contract switching, operations that have a continuous need for railcar handling engage a third-party supplier to move railcars into, out of, and
within a manufacturing or distribution facility. In
addition to railcar switching, the new business,
RailAmerica Contract Switching Services
(RACS), offers track maintenance, railcar and
locomotive repairs, and railcar cleaning.
With its broad geographic reach, RACS can
supply on-site staff and equipment quickly and
efficiently, decreasing the cost of transporting
locomotives, equipment, and personnel, the
company says. RailAmerica also offers easy
access to mechanical facilities that furnish
equipment and make necessary repairs.

Second act: Inttra, an e-commerce platform for the ocean freight industry, has
announced the availability of Inttra-ACT Booking 2.0. This Web-based booking tool
allows shippers and forwarders to reserve space on ocean vessels.
Using Inttra-ACT Booking 2.0, shippers can now send more detailed shipment information to multiple carriers via the Internet. Manual parallel processes are reduced,
resulting in a faster, more streamlined documentation process and higher-quality data.
In addition, key data elements have been added to accommodate more complex
commodity cargo requirements, including the need for temperature- and atmosphere-controlled transport. (Inttra, www.inttra.com)
