In the article about piracy off the Somali coast, the
author quoted some AP statistics to show that anti-piracy measures appear to be having some effect. The
article stated that there were 42 successful piracies in
2008 vs. only 28 successful pirate attacks through
August of 2009.
Unless my math skills are fading, successful piracies
for 2009 through August ( 3. 5 per month) are the same
as they were in 2008 ( 3. 5 per month). So perhaps the
anti-piracy measures are not as effective as believed.

I read your article on workforce development with great interest.
I work with the North Central Education Foundation in Kentucky, a
group that’s working to increase access to educational/training
opportunities. Among other things, we help businesses retool their
talent pool and assist new businesses in acquiring the needed talent. We partner with educators at all levels to accomplish our goal.
We are always on the lookout for best practices and ideas, and
your article was relevant to that objective.
