Yangon feeder line: In response to increasing market demand for feeder space,
Evergreen Line has created a new Straits-Yangon (Myanmar) service, referred to as
SYS. Evergreen will exchange space with Advance Container Lines (ACL) in its
Yangon routes to increase the frequency of feeder connections.
Evergreen Line will deploy the 1,164-TEU ship Ever Able to the SYS route. The
route serves the rotation of Singapore-Yangon-Port Klang (Malaysia)-Singapore in
about 11 to 12 days. (Evergreen Line, www.evergreen-line.com/)

Routing and scheduling software:
Paragon Software Systems Inc. has significantly upgraded its vehicle routing and
scheduling optimization software. Paragon
Version 5. 6 has more than 50 enhancements and functionality improvements over
the previous version.
Paragon Version 5. 6 now includes
enhanced automatic routing capabilities
that allow users to specifically target fleet
reduction as a cost-cutting objective. Users
also now have the option to stop the automatic routing process and review the current result. It is also now possible to store
job-specific macros, filters, tables, and
reports together for easier access and use.
Paragon now allows the Workbench user
interface to display information on a Google
Map automatically for a fast and accurate
visual reference.
Version 5. 6 has enhanced reporting capabilities as well. Users can automatically
export data to an SQL database with the
option to add new trip keywords. The latest
version also incorporates Fleet Controller
and Resource Manager functionality
improvements.
For Paragon’s international clients,
Version 5. 6 enables a language choice that
can be set at individual user levels. The software also supports Unicode capability,
which means users who want to host the
software centrally no longer need to have
different servers dedicated to different
regions.
Paragon Software believes that these
changes will help fleets cut operating costs,
improve asset utilization, and enhance customer service. (Paragon Software Systems

Spinner Cart: Cleveland-based Kinetic
Technologies Inc. has developed a cart that
spins on its own length. This design variation
makes it easier to
unload bulk containers
filled with large items.
K-Tec Spinner Carts
have a 6.5-inch floor-to-deck height and a
50- by 50-inch deck
area. Because the cart’s six wheels are made
from polyurethane, they move very quietly.
Additional features include a self-stowing,
spring-loaded towbar; clevis/pin hitch; corner load stops; and a powder-paint finish.
The cart is available in 500-pound or 1,000-
pound load ratings. (K-Tec,
