Rugged handheld device: Psion has introduced a rugged
handheld device for mobile workers, the Omnii RT15. The device
can be used for field service, delivery, field data collection, and
transportation applications.
The device features a modular design and a range of imaging
and laser scanners from multiple vendors. Wireless capabilities
include 3.8G HSPA+, 2G EDGE, Bluetooth, and 802.11a/b/g/n. A
high-capacity battery and new architecture enable a continuous
run time of 20 hours (including scanning and wireless usage), the
company says.
The RT15 features a “clipboard inspired” stylus and a vehicle
cradle for installation in transport trucks and delivery vans.
The Psion Omnii RT15 is now available to order in all major
U.S. and European territories. List prices start at $1,899. The new
device is part of Psion’s Omnii Advantage program, which allows
customers to upgrade one of the main modules after one full

Energy-efficient fans: Orion Fans, a manufacturer of standard
and custom AC and DC fans, has developed a line of “green”
AC fans. Designated the OA109AP111TB03 (Temp Control)
Series, the fans feature a smart thermal control that reduces
power consumption by increasing or decreasing fan speed
according to the ambient air, but requires only a simple AC input.
This results in energy savings of up to 30 percent over similar

Bag compartment cart:
Creform Corp., a material
handling company, has
developed a custom-com-partmented bag cart that
provides a way to transport odd-shaped parts.
The CRE-275 carts are
designed and built using
the Creform System of
plastic-coated steel pipe
and metal joints, which
allow them to be easily
modified if required. The
bags, made of industrial-grade nylon, can be sized to specific
parts and components. They hang via sewn-in web loops from
the top layer of pipe on the carts. The bags also have one side
enclosed for safer transport.
Creform offers these carts with custom sewn bags for different applications. For example, the bag compartments can be
enclosed with drop-down curtains for use in areas with airborne
debris and dust.
The carts are available assembled or in kit form. A wide selection of pipe colors and types are available, including ESD pipe for
