Platform trucks: Akro-Mils, a maker of storage, organization,
and transportation products, has introduced new styles for its
Versa/deck platform truck system.
The structural foam platform trucks, which have a carrying capacity of up to 2,000 pounds, now come with
“tie-down” slots for securing loads during transport.
Akro-Mils is also offering new handle styles for the
trucks.
The company offers a premium version of the platform truck as well. Called the Ultra/deck, the
vehicle has a carrying capacity of up to 3,000 pounds
as well as decks reinforced
with steel, extra structural ribs, and bolt-on casters.

Bar-code sled: Koamtac Inc. has released a new bar-code sled
solution for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active. The Galaxy Tab
Active sled is the newest addition to the KDC sled line for smartphones and tablets, which provides these devices with high-performance scanning capability.
The Galaxy Tab Active sled comes with a 1-D laser or 2-D
imager bar-code reader option. The 1-D laser bar-code solution
provides an economical option for budget-conscious operations,
while the 2-D imager provides a high-end scanning solution that
includes generous bar-code scanning capability and the ability to

Scale conversion kit: Mettler Toledo is now offering vehi-cle-scale conversion kits. Aging analog scales can be expensive
to keep in working order. Their high-maintenance load cells
have a tendency to need frequent repairs, causing downtime
and costing companies money. Mettler Toledo can now replace
existing load cells in non-Mettler Toledo scales with Powercell Pdx
load cells. Converting the load cells allows companies to avoid
the expense of replacing an entire scale while still improving the
scale’s performance.
A Powercell Pdx conversion can reduce downtime, maintenance, and weighing errors. Mettler Toledo says that conversions
to Powercell Pdx are quick and easy. The conversion kits are
designed for the specific brands of scales, so it is easy for Mettler
Toledo technicians to perform the conversion with minimal
downtime. The company says the conversion costs a fraction of
the price of a new scale.

Route planning system: Software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider
Marathon Data Systems has added Reload and Time-Windowed
Traffic features to its Viamente Route Planner.
The Viamente Reload feature helps users calculate load capacities and incorporate return reload trips into their routes. Users
can include up to three types of load capacities: weight, volume,
and cost. Viamente Route Planner will automatically utilize each
truck, loading it to full capacity while respecting set limits. This
feature significantly improves the routing process for the wholesale distribution, large appliance delivery, and manufacturing
industries as well as others that must reload trucks throughout
the day.
The Time-Windowed Traffic feature provides more accurate
arrival times by setting up time-dependent traffic profiles.
Previously, users set up traffic profiles for specific regions without
designated times for peak traffic volume. With this new feature,
users can now create two time windows for traffic volume within a region. This allows the system to take into consideration
