Forklift battery storage system: Material
handling equipment manufacturer Crown
Equipment Corp. has introduced the V-Force
Lithium-Ion Energy Storage System (ESS) for
forklift users considering alternative energy
sources to help reduce operating costs and
enhance productivity and efficiency. Initially
available for the Crown WP Series pallet truck,
the V-Force Lithium-Ion ESS will be available
for Crown’s complete line of forklifts in 2019.
Components of the V-Force Lithium-Ion ESS
include a UL-listed lithium-ion battery pack, a
compatible V-Force UL-listed charger, and a
fully integrated battery management system
to extend battery life by preventing operation
outside of warrantied conditions. Using the
truck display, the system shows battery discharge levels and alerts the operator through
an early warning system before truck operation
is stopped.
Lithium-ion batteries can be opportunity charged during operator breaks without
adversely affecting battery life, which can contribute to longer run times and eliminate the
need for battery changing. They do not emit
gas during charging and do not require special
battery rooms. Lithium-ion batteries are also
maintenance-free, which eliminates the need
for battery watering.
All V-Force Lithium-Ion Energy Storage
Systems will be sold and supported by Crown’s
extensive global retail network as part of
Crown’s complete material handling solutions.

Aircargo service to Australia: DB Schenker,
a global transportation and logistics company, has launched Direct Express – Australia,
a time-definite, airport-to-airport scheduled
aircargo service from Chicago (ORD) to Sydney
(SYD). This new service is designed to offer
shippers in the Midwest fast, reliable aircargo
service to Australia and is suitable for any
industry where reliability and speedy delivery
are essential, the company says.
The service offers direct 777-300 freighter
service to Sydney, with aircraft departing from

Mobile powered workstation: Newcastle Systems,
a provider of mobile powered workplace solutions,
has launched its latest product, the QC Series mobile
powered workstation. The workplace mobility solution
is designed to reduce costly worker motion, product
transportation, and touches on the manufacturing or
warehouse floor.
The QC Series workstation is suitable for quality
testing and other processes requiring vast storage capabilities, the manufacturer says. The cart allows quality
assurance testing to be performed right at the product’s
location on the manufacturing floor without stopping
production. The storage space within the cart is ideal
for tools, calipers, and other testing/inspection devices, thereby cutting time walking across the floor for supplies and materials during testing, the company adds.
The integrated power system in the workstation allows facilities to go wireless,
powering laptops, tablets, thermal printers, scanners, test equipment, and other
items that will help assemblers and workers on the floor conduct their tasks more
efficiently. Newcastle’s latest solution comes standard with a lockable storage
drawer, document holder, side storage pocket, power system cabinet, and wastebasket. Optional accessories such as an LCD holder, keyboard tray, printer shelf,
and scanner holder are also available and easily integrated. Associates can perform
testing without the hassle of cords, paper, or costly wasted motion, getting the
product out the door faster.
The mobile workstation measures 42 inches high by 29 inches wide, allowing
for easy movement throughout the manufacturing or warehouse floor. The unit
