Forklift camera and monitor system: Orlaco’s RadarEye camera and monitor system helps improve forklift drivers’ ability to
see around their trucks and provides a warning signal when
something or someone is behind the forklift truck.
Bright green, yellow, and red signals are visible when an object
or person moves within the danger zone to the rear of the forklift truck. Anything that moves within this zone is shown on the
monitor. The radar unit sounds an audible alarm immediately
and automatically activates the correct monitor and selects the
correct camera.
The radar unit is integrated in the visibility solution, which
means that the settings for the radar unit(s) and camera(s) can
be controlled from the monitor. The detection range can be set
from 2 meters ( 6. 6 feet) to 20 meters ( 65. 6 feet) and is divided
into five equal zones. The monitor tells the operator if the radar
unit is working and will give a signal when it is faulty.
Thanks to an adaptive filter, the radar units are insensitive to
external influences such as snow, rain, mud, and temperature
fluctuations. The robust radar units are not only waterproof to a
rating of IP67 but also built to withstand industrial shock and
vibrations. The operator can adjust the sensitivity on the monitor
according to his or her requirements. (Orlaco, www.orlaco.com)
Plastic pallet: The Nest C5.2 plastic pallet from Cabka-IPS measures 1,140 mm ( 44.88 inches) by 1,140 mm ( 44.88 inches) and can
handle static loads of up to 4,000 kg ( 8,818.5 pounds) and dynamic loads of up to 1,500 kg ( 3,307 pounds). Fifteen of these nestable
pallets stack to a height of just one meter or 39. 37 inches.
Two C5.2 pallets fit side by side in an intermodal container,
which has an inside width of 2,320 mm or 91.34 inches.
Additionally, five of the pallets can be lined up inside a 20-foot
container, and 10 in a 40-foot container. In other words, the pallets fit snugly in containers of both lengths, whereas other pallets often require additional packing material.
According to the manufacturer, the pallet is very easy to handle. Its square base allows forklifts to pick it up from any side.
Workers have no trouble moving it by hand because it weighs
only 12. 5 kg ( 26. 6 pounds) when empty.
The C5.2 is available with either nine feet or six clip-on runners. It is also available with or without a closed top deck.

Cloud services: Logility Inc., a supplier of collaborative supply
chain solutions, has released Logility Cloud Services. Logility
Cloud Services allows companies to choose whether they want
their Logility Voyager supply chain solutions to be deployed on a
software-as-a-service basis, as a managed service, or installed
on-premise. Companies can also change how their technology is
deployed as their business changes.
The software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery method is a subscrip-tion-based service managed and maintained by Logility. It allows
users to implement the solution rapidly. The hosted model combines Logility’s managed services expertise with a dedicated cus-tomer-owned hardware platform in Logility’s hosting center. The
third alternative, on-premise installation, is the traditional
deployment of Voyager Solutions at the customer site. (Logility,

Rate management solution: CargoSphere’s new Smart
Upload and Diagnostics Solution (SUDS) helps companies
process large volumes of external freight rates by automating
the task of managing and processing carrier contracts and contract amendments.
The solution reads the external rate data directly from the carrier contract and loads it into a rate system database. When a
contract is uploaded, advanced algorithms and smart reasoning
extract and organize rates from the rate agreement contract
data. The diagnostic features determine which rates are new and
should be added to the database versus which rates are currently in effect and simply need to be updated with revised rate levels. Once added, rates are returned back to the user through an
audit feature for verification purposes.
SUDS “learns” contract details and validations as the contract
is being processed. Contracts only need to be mapped once and
then that information is automatically applied to any subsequent
amendments and updates, the company says. (CargoSphere,

Scalable AS/RS: Vanderlande
Industries has launched its
Quickstore Microshuttle, an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) and part of
Vanderlande’s Quickstore line of
miniloads, shuttles, and load-han-dling devices.
In the Quickstore Microshuttle
solution, shuttles are not dedicated to one storage level but instead
can move between different levels
in the racking via a lift.
According to Vanderlande, the
Microshuttle is scalable. As
throughput requirements increase, the system can be expanded
with additional shuttles. The shuttles feature wireless communication and have “on-board energy” through the use of capacitors. This ensures the shuttles can operate autonomously without the need for power rails in the aisles.
The Quickstore Microshuttle was designed to be a lightweight,
energy-efficient, and cost-effective system. Its lightweight design
translates to lower material costs and energy consumption.
Energy-efficient operation is ensured by always using the optimal
combination of motor performance, acceleration, and speed.
Plus, braking energy is used to reload the capacitors.
The system has built-in redundancy. Each location in the racking can always be reached manually. Additionally, should a shuttle need service, it can easily be removed from the system while
the other shuttles take over the storage and retrieval functions.

Paper pallet: According to manufacturer Erdie Industries, Tri-Hex Paper Shipping Pallets are as strong as traditional wooden
pallets at only a fraction of the cost and weight. Designed as sin-gle-use pallets, they can hold up to 4,500 pounds and be recycled as paper scrap after use.
Users can buy the pallets fully assembled or partially assembled, or build them on-site as needed with the Tri-Hex Pallet
Machine. (Erdie Industries, www.erdie.com/pallets/)
