Painted-parts cart: Creform Corp. has designed and built a cart that helps manufacturers keep painted parts scratch-free and mar-free when the parts need to be delivered from a paint room to an assembly area. The cart is designed to hold small batches of parts on two sides of the cart. The open design makes all parts visible, assisting in visual inventory management, which is particularly useful when parts in a mix of sizes and shapes are being conveyed.

For damage-free handling, each of the shelf levels features two cantilevered bars (pins) that extend out from both sides of the cart to safely and securely hold the parts. The pins feature an end-stop that prevents the parts from sliding off the cart during transport.

The cart features five adjustable shelves, all in a comfortable ergonomic position. The design of the cart makes it easy to add, remove, or reposition shelves. It has four three-inch-diameter swivel casters for easy positioning and maneuverability, two of which are casters that lock. The casters’ swivel feature allows the cart to be easily rotated in order to fill one side once the other is full.

Creform is able to custom configure the dimensions of the cart with its system of metal pipe and joints. The modular design allows the user to configure the cart to its needs and to change it when demand changes.

Optional accessories include hanging hooks, paperwork clips, label holders, and large-diameter casters for rugged floor environments. (Creform Corp., www.creform.com)

Storage systems: Storax, a maker of high-density storage systems, has introduced its Poweracks mobile racking system and its Ranger automated high-density pallet shuttle.

The Poweracks mobile storage racking system maximizes space utilization through use of a moving aisle that provides direct access to every pallet location and greatly reduces the number of static access aisles required, the company says. Wasted aisle space is converted to usable storage space.

The Ranger is a high-density storage solution that automatically circulates pallets on a shuttle system by handheld remote control or Wi-Fi PDA. Utilizing advanced photocell technology, the Ranger intelligently detects and positions itself underneath a pallet to lift and move it within a deep-lane tunnel rack system, leaving operators free to execute other tasks. Expanded ocean carrier service: SeaLand, the intra-Americas regional ocean carrier of the Maersk Group, has introduced two new direct, all-water NAE (North Atlantic Express) service connections with the addition of port calls in Turbo, Colombia, and Puerto Moin, Costa Rica.
