Compact AGV: SSI Schaefer has introduced
the Weasel, a compact automated guided
vehicle (AGV) designed to transport boxes,
totes, and other goods throughout a facility without the need for a conventional
conveying system. The Weasel
navigates along an optical track
that can be installed quickly
and easily, the company says.
Standardized control software allows the Weasel to be
used by any customer—there
is no need for complex cus-tomization work, the company
says. In daily operations, transport orders are generated by an
in-house material flow system. A fleet controller manages the orders and assigns them
to the relevant vehicles following release. The
Weasel vehicles are equipped with a control
system that executes the orders based on
specified way points.
The Weasel transports bins, boxes, or small
parts of varying dimensions and can be
combined with a conventional conveying
system. Special handling systems are used to
load the AGV and then deposit its cargo via
docking rails back onto the conveying system.

LED lighting: Optronics International, a manufacturer and supplier of heavy-duty LED
vehicle lighting, has released three new LED
Light Bars. The new lamps come in 13-, 22-,
and 33-inch lengths, and each LED Light
Bar projects a combination spot/flood beam
pattern.
Optronics’ LED Light Bars are designed for
a wide range of applications, a broad assortment of vehicles, and use in almost any environment. The new lamps give users flexibility
and deliver from 3,700 to 7,500 lumens ( 60
to 125 watts) depending on their size.
The lamps will withstand harsh conditions
and cleaning methods because all carry an
IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
Each lamp comes with a no-hassle, one-diode
lifetime warranty, and Optronics will replace
the lamp if even one diode fails.
The three new LED Light Bars feature tough
polycarbonate lenses that resist dust adhesion. Each lamp is constructed with a durable
die-cast aluminum housing and mounting
brackets, and each comes complete with
stainless steel hardware. The lamps are hard-wired with 16-inch leads and are designed to
accommodate both 12- and 24-volt electrical systems. (Optronics International, www.

Updated WES system: Dematic has released its updated warehouse execution
system (WES) software platform, Dematic iQ 2. 5. This version features the Material
Flow Analysis tool, a new blend of performance monitoring, analytical insights, and
visualization. As an addition to the Dematic iQ Operations Management Center, this
new tool simplifies the day-to-day operation of complex systems, the company says.
Material Flow Analysis was designed to bring visibility across the entire distribution
center, identifying potential bottlenecks and other performance barriers.
With its easy-to-configure user interface, Material Flow Analysis makes it simple
to view and analyze a company’s full operation. (Dematic, www.dematic.com)
