Int’l Paint to build fire protection lab
Wales, about 50 kilometers south of
Sydney, and produces waterborne
paint, thermoplastic coatings, preformed thermoplastic, cold plastic
(MMA) coatings, and anti-skid products. In addition, the facility will be a
stocking point for other Ennis Paint
products produced in the U.S. and
Europe.
International Paint will invest $10.3 million in a new testing laboratory for fire protection products at their Felling manufacturing facility, UK. Despite the current economic
climate, this significant investment is intended to help bring new products to market
faster, as well as create new employment opportunities.
International Paint will invest $10.3

manufacturing site at Felling, UK. The
new facility will create 14 new jobs, and
secure a further 30 at the site. The new
laboratory will form part of a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence for Fire
Protection. According to forecasts, the
demand for fire protection materials is
expected to double by 2018, mainly due
to increasingly stringent fire protection
regulations worldwide.
AKZONOBEL CAR REFINISHES
IN DEAL WITH GM EUROPE
General Motors Europe (GME) and
AkzoNobel Car Refinishes formed an
agreement under which AkzoNobel
will participate in GME’s Body and
Paint Program. AkzoNobel Car
Refinishes will supply GME’s Opel
and Vauxhall dealer network all
across Europe with Sikkens and
Lesonal brand paint and coatings
materials. Car Refinishes will also
deliver services and training to GME’s
dealers. General Motors, which recent-
ly announced the renewal of a global
deal with AkzoNobel for warranty
repair work, operates in more than
forty markets in Europe, with 10 man-
ufacturing and assembly facilities and
approximately 50,000 employees.
Sikkens has traditionally been the
leading supplier of products, training
and services to GME for aftermarket
vehicle repairs.

safety products has purchased a
majority share in G.T. Industries, a
manufacturer of pavement marking
materials in Australia. The facility is
located in Ingleburn, New South
MILLER PAINT ACQUIRES
ICI PAINT STORES
Miller Paint, Portland, OR/USA, is
buying two ICI Paints Stores in its
home state located in Portland and
Salem, and owned by AkzoNobel.
Miller plans to operate the Portland
store as a new Performance Coatings
Center, and consolidate the ICI Salem
store into the existing Miller Paint
store in Salem. In addition, Miller
