Supplier’s Corner
ISP Performance Chemicals has
launched a new series of “greener” bio-
cides offered under the Nuosept trade
name that function as broad spectrum
protection products for water-based
industrial formulations, such as coatings
and adhesives. Nuosept BMc 422, offered
as a greener biocide than previous gen-
erations of Nuosept products, features a
synergistic combination of isothizolones
for the prevention of Gram (-) and Gram
(+) bacteria as well as fungi. A second
product called Nuosept W Concentrate is
classified as a low environmental impact
biocide formulated with CMIT/MIT and
Bronopol for broad spectrum protection
at low use levels. Both biocides prevent
microbial spoilage without contributing
to the VOC or formaldehyde of the prod-
ucts preserved.
HOCKMEYER GRANTED 5TH
PATENT ON IMMERSION MILLING
Hockmeyer Equipment has received
notice that it’s fifth patent covering
immersion mill enhancement has been
granted by the U.S. government. Patent
Number 7,559,493 covers the deterrence
of wear at a bearing construct in a basket media mill. The device involves the
introduction of slots in the rotating peg
hub within the basket. As the hub
rotates, centrifugal force pulls the media
and feedstock away from the polymer-bearing construct within the peg hub.
This results in two favorable conditions;
extended bearing life regardless of the
media type or size; elimination of micro
media escaping thru the clearance
between the rotating drive shaft and the
bearing construct. Bearing life (typically
6 month to 1-1/2 years) has been more
than doubled. Micro media (typically
smaller than .3mm) is no longer a containment problem. The centrifugal hub
prevents micro media from escaping
thru the polymer-bearing construct and
the auger in the upper feed tube into the
mill prevents media from floating out as
the mill is immersed into the feedstock.
NETZSCH’S ZETA RS BEAD MILL
AVAILABLE FOR U.S. TESTING
Netzsch Fine Particle Technology’s latest
Zeta RS stirred media mill is now
installed in its Exton, PA-based technical
laboratory and is available for testing.
The updated Zeta RS is equipped with
an advanced media separation system
and improved mechanical seal system
that allow the mill to handle the smallest
grinding media and enable the mill to
grind particles as small as 50 nm. The
Zeta RS is available in four chambers
sizes, ranging from two liters to 25. Its
new tilting feature allows for easier loading and unloading of grinding media.
ARKEMA OFFERS NEW RILSAN
GRADES FOR OUTDOOR FURNITURE
Arkema has consolidated its Rilsan
powder product range with new grades
specifically adapted to the coating of
outdoor furniture, so as to respond to
stricter requirements in coastal areas,
or in regions with extreme weather conditions. Arkema has developed a dark
grey grade, T gris 9102 MAC (RAL
7021), and at the beginning of 2010 will
offer a new aluminium type color grade.
These Rilsan grades designed for outdoor applications offer UV resistance,
as well as impact and abrasion resistance, which ultimately extend the lifetime of the furniture. While offering
protection to metallic surfaces in different kinds of environments, Rilsan provides resistance to most cleaning
agents, and imparts an attractive and
smooth surface aspect, which is also
warm to the touch. CW
