PPG DONATES $5,000
TO RECREATION UNLIMITED
The PPG Industries Foundation has
donated $5,000 to Recreation Unlimited,
a nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities and health concerns through sports, recreation and
education, for its efforts to develop an
accessible environmental and historical
trail honoring the Native Americans who
lived in the local area.
“We are very pleased to have received
support from PPG for development of the
new trail,” said Paul L. Huttlin, execu-
tive director and CEO of Recreation
Unlimited. “The donation helped to fund
the first phase of this trail.”
Recreation Unlimited, which celebrat-
ed its 50th anniversary in 2008, current-
ly serves about 3,700 individuals with
disabilities and health concerns repre-
senting up to 14 physical and develop-
mental disability groups from 57 counties
in Ohio and five surrounding states. The
Indian Run Trail it is developing will be
an accessible environmental and histori-
cal trail honoring the Delaware Indians,
or Lenape, who lived in the area. It will
include interpretive signs and specific
activities that teach visitors about the
relationship between nature and the life
activities of a Delaware Indian.
“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its
employees work and live,” said Carl
Johnson, North America director of
refinish manufacturing, based at
PPG’s automotive refinish paint manufacturing facility in Delaware, and a
member of the Recreation Unlimited
board of directors. “We are proud to
support Recreation Unlimited in its
efforts to make outdoor exploration
accessible to individuals with disabilities and health concerns, and to teach
these individuals about local history
through these activities.” CW
