butylamino-s-triazine; and 3-(4-iso-
propylphenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea, and
mixtures thereof; approximately 0.1
to 5 mass percent of an acrylic graft
copolymer having a poly(methyl
methacrylate-methacrylic acid) backbone and polyethylene glycol side
chains; approximately 0.1 to 5 mass
percent of a tristyrylphenolethoxy-late phosphoric ester or a salt or acid
form thereof, having an average of
approximately 50 to about 60 ethylene oxide units; and a water-based
solvent.
CABOT PATENTS
MODIFIED PIGMENTS
Patent No. U.S. 7,649,031 B2
Cabot Corporation has received a
patent for a printing plate comprised
of a substrate and an infrared or
near-infrared radiation-absorptive
layer, wherein the radiation-absorp-
tive layer is comprised of at least one
modified pigment product comprised
of a pigment having attached at least
one aromatic or alkyl group X,
wherein X is substituted with at
least one group comprised of the for-
mula: -[polymer]R, wherein “poly-
mer” represents repeating monomer
groups or multiple monomer groups
or both, optionally having at least
one —X’ group, wherein X’ is com-
prised of at least one aromatic group
or at least one alkyl group, and each
X and X’ can be the same or differ-
ent, R represents hydrogen, a bond, a
substituted or unsubstituted alkyl
group, or a substituted or unsubsti-
tuted aromatic group, and the total
amount of monomer groups of “poly-
mer” is not greater than approxi-
mately 500 monomer repeating
units, and when R represents a bond,
R optionally bonds to the pigment.
WAYNE PIGMENTS PATENTS
CORROSION INHIBITOR
Patent No. U.S. 7,662,241 B2
Wayne Pigment Corp. has received a
patent for a process for protecting an
aluminum substrate or a steel substrate against corrosion comprised of
providing an aluminum surface to be
protected, applying to the surface a
protective composition comprised of
a pigment grade corrosion inhibitor
composition, the protective composition being formed by reacting an
organic compound from a group consisting of di-mercapto and poly-mer-capto derivatives and their derivatives, with a cationic species selected
from a group consisting of Bi(III),
Co(II), Cd(II), Ag(I), Sb(III), Ni(II),
Li(I), La(III) and Pr(IID). The protective corrosion inhibitor composition
has a limited solubility in water of
between approximately 0.01 and
1,000 mmoles/ per liter of water,
whereby the corrosion inhibitor is
capable of preventing corrosion for at
least 2000 hours in salt spray exposure conditions.
HENKEL PATENTS
ADHESIVE CONTAINING
RADIAL BLOCK COPOLYMER
Patent No. U.S. 7,655,720 B2
Henkel AG & Co. has received a
patent for a hot melt adhesive com-
prised of a radial block copolymer
component comprised of (PS-PI-
PB)nX wherein PS is polystyrene, PI
is polyisoprene and PB is polybutadi-
ene, X is the residue of a multifunc-
tional coupling agent used in the pro-
duction of the radial block copolymer,
and n is equal to or greater than 3
and represents the number of PS-PI-
PB arms appended to X, and wherein
the styrene content of the radial
block copolymer is from approxi-
mately 25%-50% weight, a linear tri-
block copolymer, a tackifying resin, a
liquid plasticizer and a wax, where-
in, based on the weight of the adhe-
sive composition, the radial block
copolymer component is present in
amounts of less than 15% weight, the
linear triblock copolymer is present
in amounts of up to 20% weight, the
tackifying resin is present in
amounts of from 30%-70% weight the
plasticizer is present in amounts of
less than 20% weight and the wax is
present in amounts of 0%-5% weight,
the adhesive being suitable for use
as an elastic attachment adhesive.
DIC PATENTS AN AQUEOUS
COATING COMPOSITION
Patent No. U.S. 7,649,041 B2
DIC Corporation has received a
patent for an aqueous coating composition comprised of a hydrophilic
cationic polymer (A) which is selected from the group consisting of
polyvinylamine, polyallylamine,
polyethyleneimine, and polypropy-leneimine, and of which an amino
group is protonated by an acid; non-ionic polyalcohol (B); a silane compound (C) being at least one selected
from the group consisting of
tetraalkoxysilanes and trialkoxysi-lanes; and water (D), wherein the
mass ratio ((A)+(B))/(C) between the
total of the hydrophilic cationic polymer (A) and the nonionic polyalcohol
(B), and the silane compound (C) is
in a range from 60/40 to 5/95. CW
