Ace Hardware names director of marketing

Ace Hardware Corp. has appointed Jeff Gooding director of consumer marketing. Gooding, who has nearly 20 years of corporate and agency communications experience, will oversee creative advertising, media buying, public relations, Acehardware.com, digital and mobile marketing, the Ace Rewards customer loyalty program, local and regional marketing and consumer insights and analytics. Gooding most recently served as senior vice president of marketing and group account director for Revolution Marketing. He has also served in senior leadership positions at various corporations and agencies, including Bally Total Fitness and General Motors.

APPOINTS SALES DIRECTOR
Bayer MaterialScience has named
Xiaobin Zhong sales director, regional
key accounts, Coatings, Adhesives,
Specialties (CAS), North America. In this
role, Zhong is responsible for the man-
agement of regional accounts and techni-
cal specialists for the company’s U.S.
CAS business. Zhong will report directly
to Christine Bryant, VP, regional key
accounts, distribution sales and market-
ing, CAS, Bayer MaterialScience.
Previously, Zhong held several positions
in the Bayer MaterialScience CAS
organization in the Asia-Pacific region,
most recently serving as marketing
director for China.

EMERALD APPOINTS TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER Emerald Performance Materials has appointed Thomas Penny technical sales manager of its industrial foam control products. In his new position, Penny will be responsible for developing the strategic direction for defoamers and driving defoamer growth in various markets such as paints and coatings, graphic arts and inks, and emulsion polymerization. Prior to this appointment, Penny was a staff scientist at Ashland Water Technologies for nearly 15 years, supporting its portfolio of specialty additives in coatings and graphic arts applications. CW
