PPG launches Deltron DC2000
Deltron DC2000
PPG Automotive Refinish has intro- duced DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear with superfast airdry capability to
the collision center market. The new
clearcoat is part of the PPG Deltron line
of products.
DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear is designed for use over Deltron DBC, Global
Refinish System BC, and Envirobase High
Performance basecoats.
PPG has taken clearcoat no-bake technology and advanced it to create a PPG
clearcoat appropriate for any type of collision center—from high-production
shops to the smaller operations without
baking capabilities. DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear will air dry in 20-25 minutes and
it is very easy to apply and work with, the
company said.
DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear requires
no flash time between coats and no baking
in the refinish process, which optimizes
spray booth utilization. Due to the extremely fast out-of-dust time, a vehicle can
be removed from the booth in as little as
10 minutes.
The superfast air dry capability of this
wet-on-wet clearcoat facilitates fast cycle
times for single- and multi-panel repairs.
The new clearcoat also helps reduce energy costs with its ability to bypass the
baking cycle.
Bayer MaterialScience
introducing new UV coatings
technology
Bayer MaterialScience is introducing new
developments in UV-curing coatings. The
technology is characterized by high productivity and environmental compatibility, and has proven effective in numerous
applications for polyurethane coatings,
the company said. The focus is on the industrial coating of wood, furniture and
parquet flooring. A new technology for
the on-site use of parquet coatings is also
being introduced.
One technology is the solvent-free waterborne dispersion Bayhydrol UV XP
2775 for white-pigmented, UV-curing
coatings and topcoats. The surface is characterized by excellent chemical and stain
resistance, even with a high pigment content. Coatings formulated to contain this
product also have good gloss and outstanding hardness, making them suitable
for use in wood and furniture finishing, including for kitchen cabinetry.
Bayhydrol UV 2792 XP, a new UV-curing, cationic urethane acrylate emulsion, provides for fast drying and thus
the efficient industrial basecoating of
furniture and parquet flooring. Primers
formulated with this product offer very
good chemical and stain resistance in addition to high pendulum hardness. However, this cationic emulsion is
characterized in particular by adhesion
on problematic woods and the suppression of staining wood constituents such
as tannins. The primers also accentuate
the grain of the wood.
Glasurit’s new steel primer
paste turns 68 Line into a DTM
solution
Glasurit’s Ratio Truck System and the associated 68 Line topcoat system are designed to meet the requirements posed
by commercial vehicle finishes. To do so
better, Glasurit has launched a steel
primer paste to complement the 68 Line.
Glasurit 568-46 CV-Steel Primer Paste
turns the 68 Line into a “direct to metal
application system” (DTM system).
When used in combination with CV-Steel
Primer Paste, the 68 Line topcoats can be
applied directly to metal as a DTM topcoat with a 50: 50 mixing ratio. For commercial vehicle bodyshops, this provides
an economically efficient solution for
painting chassis, dumper/tipper bodies
and container cars with good corrosion
protection and good adhesion. Also, the
CV Steel Primer Paste can be mixed
70: 30 with a 68 Line topcoat for application as a tinted primer filler in a two-layer system.
