Sika acquires architectural and PUR
waterproofing coatings producer Duochem
Sika has acquired Duochem Inc., which
manufactures and sells polymer flooring
and waterproofing products for the construction industry. Duochem Inc. is located in Boucherville, Quebec, Canada
with annual sales of approximately CHF
9 million (USD 9. 7 million).
Sika AG through its Canadian subsidiary Sika Canada Inc. acquired the privately owned company. Duochem was
founded more than 40 years ago and produces polymer flooring products for a
wide variety of industrial and architectural applications, and polyurethane waterproofing coatings and membranes used
in the protection of parking decks and
concrete structures. The products are
manufactured in Quebec and sold primarily to customers throughout Canada.
The acquisition will enable Sika to further strengthen its position and market
penetration capabilities in the region as
well as to improve its logistics and service
capabilities. Duochem will operate as a
unit of Sika Canada Inc. and the existing
management will remain on board.
action includes a long-term supply agree-
ment between Royal and Vertis, which
allows Vertis continued access to Craig’s

Royal Adhesives & Sealants (Royal) an-
nounced it will acquire all of the assets
of Vertis Communications’ indirect
wholly-owned subsidiary, Webcraft
Chemicals, which operates under the
name Craig Adhesives & Coatings
(Craig). Royal is a portfolio company of
Arsenal Capital Partners (Arsenal).
Based in Newark, N.J., Craig is a sup-
plier of ultraviolet light-cured and water-
based adhesives and coatings to the
printing and graphic arts markets. The
acquisition builds on Royal’s platform of
adhesives, sealants and coatings and al-
lows clients of both companies to bene-
fit from an expanded range of
customized and proprietary solutions.
For Vertis, the sale provides additional
opportunities to pay down debt and in-
