American Coatings Conference
The American Coatings Conference
(ACC) will begin a day before the main
exhibition running May 7-9. Sixteen sessions will cover various topics including
measuring and testing; radiation curing;
pigments; architectural coatings; protective coatings; biobased coatings; modeling
and measuring; polyurethanes; epoxy
coatings; waterborne systems; smart and
functional coatings; and novel materials.
The conference will feature two keynote
presentations given by Kent Young from
Sherwin-Williams and Kesh Narayanan of
the National Science Foundation. Young
will discuss volatility in the raw materials
market and in particular one way Sherwin-Williams met this challenge through a
unique partnership with soybean farmers
and the United Soy Bean Board, which led
to an innovative new paint technology.
Narayanan will explore the current
state of innovation and idea exchange between academia and industry and what
the future might bring.
One of the highlights of the ACC will
be the presentation of the American Coatings Award for the best paper of the conference. The award will be presented
during the opening ceremony of the conference. The recipient will receive $2,500
and a commemorative sculpture.
In addition to the main conference nine
pre-conference tutorials will be held on
May 7, 2012 from 8: 30 am until 12:00
pm. The lectures will cover radiation curing; antimicrobial surfaces; easy-to-clean
Indianapolis will be in top shape when the
