Sumter Coatings names
new president and CEO
Ross McKenzie, president and chief executive of Sumter
Coatings, Inc. has retired having served in
the paint and coatings industry with
DuPont, Southern
Coatings, Inc., Pratt
& Lambert, Inc., and
Sumter Coatings, Inc.
over the course of 70 years.
Succeeding McKenzie as president and
CEO is Barry Reynolds, chief financial officer of Sumter Coatings, Inc. Reynolds
has 32 years experience in the paint and
coatings industry holding financial management positions with Sumter Coatings,
Inc., Sherwin-Williams, Pratt & Lambert,
Inc. and Southern Coatings, Inc.

RPM names Russell Gordon
CFO; realigns finance
department
RPM International Inc. has elected Russell Gordon, currently vice president, corporate planning, as vice president and
chief financial officer. Gordon is replacing
Robert Matejka, RPM’s current senior
vice president and chief financial officer,
who will be retiring at the company’s fiscal year end.
Gordon will oversee all of RPM’s finance functions, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, global tax
administration and investor relations. He
joined the company as director of corporate development in 1995 and was elected
vice president, corporate planning in
2007. Prior to joining RPM, Gordon held
various financial positions in corporate
treasury and control, as well as in the specialty chemicals division at Goodrich Corporation. He previously was an industrial
engineer at VLSI Technology, Inc.
He will succeed Matejka, who joined
RPM in 2000 as vice president and controller and was elected chief financial officer in 2001. Matejka then served in a
consulting capacity with RPM from 2007
until 2010, when he resumed his post as
chief financial officer. Prior to joining
RPM, Matejka held a variety of finance
and accounting positions with Rockwell
International Corporation, Reliance Electric Co. and Ernst & Young LLP.
Additionally, RPM announced the following changes within its finance department.
Keith Smiley, currently vice president,
treasurer and assistant secretary, will assume duties of vice president, finance and
controller.
Matthew Ratajczak, currently vice
president, global taxes, will assume additional treasury responsibilities as vice
president, global taxes and treasurer.
Barry Slifstein, currently vice president
and controller, will assume duties of vice
president, investor relations and planning.
International Paint LLC
promotes McMillan to
protective coatings marketing
manager, North America
International Paint LLC, has promoted
Chris McMillan to protective coatings
marketing manager, North America. In
this new role, McMillan will be responsible for managing and
overseeing all of the
product marketing
and marketing communications activities
related to the company’s International
Paint, Devoe, Envi-ronline and Ceilcote
brands serving the oil and gas, industrial,
water and wastewater, high value infrastructure and commercial market segments throughout the United States,
Canada and Latin America.
McMillan has more than 12 years of
coatings industry experience, having
begun his career at International Paint in
1999, working with the research and tech-
nology laboratory in color and product
formulations, then moving into product
and market management until he was
named senior market manager in 2008.
Robert Hu joins HallStar as vice
president
Robert Shengkui Hu has joined The HallStar Company’s senior management team
as vice president, research and development. He will initially
report to and replace
Gary Wentworth,
who will retire from
the specialty chemical
company this year
after overseeing the
transition of his responsibilities.
Before joining HallStar, Hu served as
vice president of global technology at
Beckers Consumer Design Finishes (CDF),
a division of Beckers Industrial Coat-ings/Lindengruppen, which specializes in
coatings for consumer electronics and
household appliances. He managed a
technical team of 80 people in Asia, Europe and North America, and was responsible for the division’s R&D strategy
and patent portfolio.
Prior to Beckers, he held several key
positions at PPG Industries, including
technical director, industrial coatings in
the Asia Pacific region. Based in China, he
led an international team of 250 and established technical organizations in developing countries to support the company’s
global growth.

Archway Sales, Inc. hires
technical sales representative
Charles DiComo joined Archway Sales,
Inc. as a technical sales representative
for the Northeast Region. DiComo has
more than 12 years’ experience in sales.
He will be responsible for growing sales
in the southern New York and New Jersey area. CW
