PPG introduces Delfleet Essential Basecoat
PPG Commercial Coatings has launched
Delfleet Essential Basecoat, a 3. 5 VOC
basecoat designed to complement the
Delfleet product line and increase its capabilities. The new basecoat is intended
for value-conscious fleet refinishers,
OEMs and collision centers aiming for
greater productivity, more efficiency and
ease of use. The basecoat is recommended
for overall color repair, refurbishing and
when striping is required.
“With the addition of the basecoat to
our product lineup, we are giving our cus-
tomers a high-quality, value-priced option
for their work,” said J.J. Wirth, PPG brand
manager, fleet segments. “We wanted this
basecoat to be just as easy to use as a sin-
gle-stage topcoat—and it is; very little
training time is needed. It’s also durable
and has an attractive price point. I think
our customers will be as pleased with it as
we are.”
Delfleet Essential Basecoat provides en-
hanced durability the company said.
When used with ESC621 clearcoat, a
three-year warranty is offered. In addition

dry speeds than single-stage topcoats to

help shops increase productivity and efficiency. The fast dry times make it ideal for
two-tone jobs or striping. Since the
basecoat is mixed from the same color
formula as the single-stage, lower shop inventory is possible.
The new basecoat also expands the
product line’s color palette. Delfleet Essential now has pearl color capability as a
basecoat, which must be clearcoated with
ESC621, along with solids and metallic
colors. To keep the Delfleet Essential line
efficient and to keep mixing easy, both the
new basecoat and single-stage topcoats
can be mixed from the same ESSS color
formula. The ESSS color is mixed with a
new basecoat converter and new hardener.
The decision to mix a color as a single-stage or basecoat is made when the paint
technician is ready to spray.
Dunn-Edwards introduces new
and improved Evershield flat,
velvet and eggshell premium
exterior paint
Dunn-Edwards has launched an improved
version of its Evershield premium exterior
flat, velvet and eggshell paint. Evershield
is known for its exterior performance and
durability, and the company has taken
steps to further improve the product.
Using advanced resin technology, the company said it was possible to improve water
repellency and resistance to color fade and
surfactant leaching of the flat and velvet,
while still maintaining superior adhesion
and grain crack resistance properties.
The new Evershield exterior eggshell
paint now uses the same resin technology
as Evershield exterior low sheen, semi-gloss
and gloss paint. The Eggshell provides good
gloss retention and dirt pick-up resistance.
Like all other Dunn-Edwards products,
Evershield premium paint is eco-friendly,
EG-Free (no ethylene glycol or other toxic
air contaminants) and produced in the
world’s only LEED Gold-certified paint
manufacturing plant. Evershield premium
paint is ultra-low VOC at 50 grams per
liter, and has very low odor both during
and after application.
The improved Evershield premium exterior flat, velvet and eggshell paint will be
available in Dunn-Edwards’ stores in August, and new product availability will
vary from store to store.

is a must have in the markets it is used in,”
said Ron Phillips, product manager at
Dur-A-Flex. “It provides an excellent wear
surface, excels in color stability and its
unique texture helps to greatly reduce the
risk of slip and fall incidents in both wet
and dry environments.”
