PPG Makes Executive Appointments
PPG Industries has made several executive appointments. Frank S. Sklarsky, executive vice president, finance, will be
appointed executive vice president and
chief financial officer, as previously announced, and will continue to serve on
PPG’s executive and operating committees. Sklarsky continues to report to
chairman and CEO Charles E. Bunch and
to be based at PPG’s global headquarters
in Pittsburgh.
David B. Navikas, senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer,
will be appointed senior vice president,
strategic planning and corporate development. Navikas also continues to serve on
the executive and operating committees,
to report to Bunch.
Kevin D. Braun, general manager, silica
products, will be appointed vice president,
global raw materials and Americas purchasing. In this new key leadership role,
Braun will be an officer of the company.
He will report to Stephen T. Lampe, vice
president, purchasing and logistics, and be
responsible for global raw material purchases and related transportation costs.
In addition, the North American general
purchasing group and the South American
purchasing organization based in Sumaré,
Brazil, will report directly to Braun.
Anup Jain, vice president, strategic
planning and corporate development,
will be named vice president, silica products. In his new role, Jain will be responsible for driving the continued profitable
growth of the core silica products and
TESLIN products groups as well as exploring new and different applications
and innovations to add to these businesses. In his new role, Jain will report
to Richard C. Elias, senior vice president,
Optical and Specialty Materials.
Jeffrey C. Davies, managing director,
corporate development, will be named
vice president, corporate development,
and become an officer of the company. He
will report to Navikas. Davies has been
instrumental in driving several strategic
portfolio-transformation initiatives, including the acquisition of AkzoNobel’s North
American architectural coatings business,
the separation of PPG’s commodity chemicals business and the divestiture of the automotive glass and services businesses.
Thomas E. Maziarz, general manager,
stores and dealers, architectural coatings,
will be named vice president, stores and
dealers, architectural coatings, North
America, and will become an officer of
the company. Maziarz will continue to
lead the store and dealer channels of
the architectural coatings business in
North America, which recently expanded significantly with the acquisition of
AkzoNobel’s North American architectural coatings business. He will continue
to report to Scott Sinetar, vice president,
architectural coatings, North America.
Sto Corp. Announces
Appointment of Strategic
Team Members
Sto Corp. added five new team members
as part of its new strategic plan to enter
into new markets with the expertise of
some key team members.
Brian Chang has been named product
manager, EIFS/Stucco. Chang is responsible for managing the growth of Sto’s EIFS
and Stucco product lines to include profitability, market segmentation, positioning, and new product development. He
comes to Sto from LG Building Materials,
where he served as senior product manager and corporate strategy manager, responsible for managing the P&L of their
composite countertop division.
Rankin Jays has been appointed
product manager, Coatings. Jays joined
the company this spring to oversee the
coatings product line, introducing new
products to new markets, including architectural coatings.
John Chamberlin has been named
product manager, StoGuard. Chamberlin
has been promoted in the company and
is now managing Sto’s air and moisture
barrier and entering new markets with
the product line, including residential.
Tyson Kindstrom has been named territory manager, East Region. New to this
position, he has been in the construction
industry for more than twenty years and
has worked with Sto Corp. since 2004.
Valerie Mayer has been named manager, branding and communications. She
joined the company in 2012 to oversee all
brand initiatives and multi-channel marketing campaigns. She began her career
in the telecommunications division of the
German Group BOSCH and then served
as manager, international marketing and
communications at Markem-Image.
H.B. Fuller Elects Simonds
to Board of Directors
H.B. Fuller Company has elected Ann
Simonds as an independent member to
its board of directors, effective October
1. With Simonds’ election, the board will
consist of eight directors, seven of whom
are independent. Simonds is currently senior vice president at General Mills and
president of the company’s Mill City
Division.
Solvay Novecare Names
New Global Market R&D
Manager
Solvay Novecare has appointed Michael
Rhodes global market R&D manager of
the Solvay Novecare Coatings Business
Team. In his new position, Rhodes will
develop and implement innovation strategies and manage the market lab teams to
maximize performance, speed and quality of delivery. Prior to joining Novecare,
he served as a synthesis group leader for
Dow’s Coating Materials business, managing activities in high-performance,
low-VOC coatings, easy-to-clean coatings, elastomeric wall coatings and novel
organic/inorganic composites. He began
his career as a synthesis scientist in the
architectural coatings business of Rohm
and Haas. CW
