emissions and waste disposal, the com-

• 0.31 injury-and-illness rate,
which remained the lowest in the

• Wellness programs implemented
at 73 percent of reporting locations with 50 or more employees;

• Nearly $9.8 million in charitable
contributions; and
More than 40 COLORFUL
COMMUNITIES projects completed
around the world, for a total of nearly 60
projects completed since the program was

Murphy Wins SSPC John D.
Keane Award of Merit
Bob Murphy, Project Development manager for Sherwin-Williams Protective &
Marine Coatings, has been awarded the
2017 John D. Keane Award of Merit
by the Society for Protective Coatings
(SSPC).
Named for the society’s executive director from 1957-1984, the award honors outstanding leadership and significant
contributions to the development of the
coatings industry and SSPC. The prestigious award was presented at SSPC’s
Awards Luncheon Program at the organization’s annual conference.
Murphy is a corrosion and water
and wastewater industry veteran, and
an active member of SSPC
and many other esteemed in-
dustry organizations, includ-
ing the American Water Works
Association (AWWA), the National Rural
Water Association (NRWA), the Water
Environment Federation (WEF), and
the National Association of Corrosion
Engineers (NACE). He is an SSPC
Protective Coatings Specialist (PCS) and
a NACE-Certified Coatings Inspector,
as well as a Concrete Coating Inspector
(CCI) and Course Instructor.

The U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) has announced
AkzoNobel’s Surface Chemistry business as a 2017 Safer Choice Partner of
the Year. The business was recognized for
its role in proactively advancing the safer
chemistry and safer product goals of the
EPA Safer Choice program.
