Troy Corporation announced the lection of Donald A. Shaw, Ph.D. by the Board of Directors to the
position of senior vice president AMEAI
and Regulatory Affairs, reporting to W.
Brian Smith, executive vice president and
chief operating officer.
In his new role, Shaw
will be responsible for
continuing the company’s growth efforts
in Asia-Pacific, where
Troy has been a supplier since 1970, and
has manufactured advanced products in the
region since 1997. Shaw will also oversee
the company’s expanding Regulatory
Affairs department.
“I look forward to the challenges of my
new role,” said Shaw. “Troy’s focus on the
Asia-Pacific and Middle East & India re-
gions has put the company in a strong posi-
tion to build a secure footing in the regions,
and build trust through long-term partner-
ships with customers. This will continue.”
Shaw also noted that Troy’s commitment
to regulatory support for customers world-
wide is proving more and more essential.
“Regulatory matters greatly impact our in-
dustry, and we do not expect this to change.
Troy’s dedication to assisting customers to
achieve compliance and success in the mar-
ketplace is yet another building block of the
partnerships we form.”
Shaw joined Troy in 2000 as direc-
tor, Product Registration. He later as-
sumed responsibility for managing Troy’s
Analytical Services group and was pro-
moted to vice president of development
in 2004. In 2007, Shaw was promoted to
vice president and general manager for
Troy Asia and Regulatory Affairs.
PPG Announces Personnel
Changes
PPG announced that John Bruno, currently chief financial officer, Asia Pacific, has
been named director, investor relations.
Bruno will report
to PPG senior vice
president and chief
financial officer, Vince
Morales, and will be
based in Pittsburgh.
Bruno has held
a variety of finance
roles of increasing responsibility over his 22 years with PPG.
Bruno relocated to Rolle, Switzerland,
in 2007, first supporting the integration
of the SigmaKalon acquisition and later
serving as corporate controller for the
EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
region. He repatriated to the U.S. in 2009
as director, corporate audit services, and
worked also as the interim chief compliance officer. Bruno has served in his current role since November 2013.
PPG has named Daniel Bencun global
platform business director for aerospace
coatings and a member of PPG’s aerospace global leadership team. He succeeds Mark Cancilla, who was appointed
PPG vice president for corporate environment, health and safety.
Bencun had been based in France as
aerospace coatings
market segment manager for the Europe,
Middle East and
Africa region since
joining PPG in 2013.
He previously managed the specialty
coatings business in
France for Becker
Industrie SAS.

Additions
Cathay Industries USA’s CEO Kevin
Miles announced the formation of a dedi-
cated team of industry veterans to expand
Cathay’s promotion and commercial
growth in the coatings, plastics and spe-
cialties marketplace. The new team has a
combined 130 years of pigment experi-
ence in color concept solutions.
Marty Hasson brings an extensive
background in chemical distribution,
Marketing, Ribelin
Sales, Elementis
Pigments, Rockwood
Pigments, and Huntsman Chemical. He
will focus on key account management in
the coatings, plastics and specialty areas
as national accounts manager – Coatings,
Plastics and Specialties.
Craig Utesch brings both organic
and inorganic pigment experience to his
role as national distribution manager –
Coatings, Plastics and Specialties. He has
worked in textiles, pigments, and coating resins and has extensive managerial
experience at Milliken, Ciba Specialty
Chemicals, Ferro Corporation, Engelhard
and BASF Corporation.
Burl Bowman has acquired a wealth
of knowledge through various roles at
Hoover Color and will retain his responsibilities as the technical leader for the
Umber, Siennas, Ochres, EnvironOxides
& Cathay’s products manufactured
in Hiwassee, Virginia. His new role as
American technical manager – Coatings,
Plastics and Specialties will allow our
customers to have a single point of contact for all product inquires.
Chuck Hoover will head this sales
team. Hoover is a fourth generation
“color man” and joined Cathay as part of
the acquisition of Hoover Color in 2016.
Over the years he has overseen technical,
commercial and manufacturing activities.
Besides continuing to oversee the Hoover
Color – Division of Cathay Industries,
Hoover has taken on the role of executive vice president for Coatings, Plastics
& Specialties in the Americas. CW
