Allnex’s Polyester Resin Production Facilty
in Malaysia Receives State Environmental
Award
Allnex’s production facility in Seremban, Malaysia, has been
recognized for its environmental performance with the State
Chief Minister Yearly Environmental Award 2012.
The goal of the State Chief Minister Yearly Environmental
Award is to create awareness for environmental stewardship
and to call upon the public, manufacturers, business operators and local farming to the preservation and conservation
of the environment in the State of Negeri Sembilan. It is
awarded based on the level of compliance with environmental regulations pertaining to the management of industrial
effluents, sewage, water and air emissions, and waste generation. A total of 57 companies in the state of Negeri Sembilan
participated in the competition, and Allnex was nominated
as Champion based on its environmental performance.
Located in Seremban, the capital of Negeri Sembilan, and approximately 85 kilometers south of the Malaysian capital Kuala
Lumpur, the Allnex facility manufactures polyester resins for
the production of powder coatings that are used to protect and
beautify metal products in both indoor and outdoor applications. These resins are supplied to powder coating producers in
Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, India
and Pakistan, the Middle East and South Africa.
The Allnex Seremban plant has several international quality, safety and environmental certifications (ISO9001:2000,
ISO14001:1996, OHSAS 18001:1999) and has been recognized in the past with company awards for environmental and
safety performance, as well as Malaysia’s premier environmental award – the Prime Minister Hibiscus Award (Notable
Achievement) – in 2008/2009.
Galactic Opens a New Subsidiary in Italy
Galactic recently opened a new sales office located in Milano,
Italy, Galactic Italia s.r.l. Owing to this expansion, Galactic will
provide a more localized service to its Italian customers.
Galactic has had a presence in Italy for years through long-term relationships with end-users and strategic partners. Those
partnerships will be strengthened and will be better supported
thanks to the new commercial office located in Milano. On
top of its traditional business in the Italian food industry, the
Belgian company also sees a very important potential for industrial, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical applications.
DuPont Teflon Industrial Coating 857G-018
Meets SP11C Standards
After extensive salt spray and kesternich testing, Intech Services
announced the placement of DuPont 857G-018 fluoropolymer
product on the DuPont SP11C specification for fluoropolymer-
coated fasteners. As of an update in May 2013, the DuPont™
Teflon industrial coating 857G line is now an option
for application to meet SP11C standards.
DuPont SP11C specification is the corporate engineering standard for fluoropolymer-coated fasteners
that require excellent corrosion resistance. DuPont SP11C is a
specification for fasteners that are intended for use in severe atmospheric corrosive environments. It is not recommended for
use in immersion service. The coating system is comprised of
two coats: a sacrificial base coat of electroplated zinc or ceram-ic/metallic coating, and a fluoropolymer top coat applied by an
applicator qualified by DuPont. Since fluoropolymer coatings
have a low coefficient of friction, the make-up torque values for
fasteners coated according to SP11C will be reduced.
The DuPont Teflon industrial coating 857G product line
is a new technology targeting applications requiring anti-galling and dry lubrication. It is a water-based, low VOC,
easy-to-use coating offering outstanding corrosion resistance that can be applied at .0005 to .0045 inches thick by
conventional spray or dip spinning. The performance test
ASTM B117 showed less than 10% rust on fasteners coated
with 857G-018, the blue version of these coatings, after
3,000 salt spray hours. VOC emissions were less than 3.0
pounds per gallon. There are several coating color options.
