BASF has launched a new heavy- duty antistatic flooring system that is based on a polyurethane cement technology. With Ucrete MF40AS
complements the BASF product portfolio of chemical solutions for construction, which is bundled under the Master
Builders Solutions brand.
Ucrete MF40AS offers numerous advantages in terms of a safe and aesthetic
working environment, robustness and
durability: Thanks to its antistatic properties, the flooring system protects elec-trostatic-sensitive devices and can be used
in explosion hazard areas.
Thanks to its new technology, Ucrete
MF40AS is also available in the new col-
ors, cream and bright yellow, in addition
to the standard range. Like all Ucrete
flooring solutions, the new system is
dense and impervious, meeting the high-
est hygienic standards and withstanding
extreme thermal, mechanical and chemi-
cal impact – thus offering a long service
life, the company reported
According to BASF, Ucrete is the
world’s toughest floor. It was launched in
1969 and has since then been used in var-
ious industries – including the food and
beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical
industries. Thanks to its good cleanability
as well as chemical, thermal and mechan-
ical resistance, Ucrete flooring is well-
suited for spaces where a robust, hygienic
and durable floor is required.
Chemline Offers Premium
Concrete Coatings Protect
Structural Integrity and
Reduce Down Time
Chemline fast-set spray polyurea coatings
protect concrete and precast concrete by
preventing moisture migration from the
surface into the substrate, where it can
cause significant corrosion to the inter-
nal rebar and impact structural integ-
rity. Chemline coatings also reduce costly
down time on the plant floor by allowing
for a quick return of treated materials to
production. Plus, with virtually no odor
or flammability, Chemline polyurea ap-
plications are less disruptive or hazard-
ous to the adjacent work force.
Compared to slow-curing epoxies,
acrylics, vinyls, paints, urethanes and
rapid cement repair polymers, Chemline’s
polyruea coatings offer above-average
physical properties with extremely low
permeability. Coatings may be applied
to damp surfaces (product specific) and
in below-freezing temperatures and still
cure immediately, permitting materials
to be handled in minutes. More features
and benefits of Chemline polyurea concrete coatings:
• No VOCs and little to no odor
•Excellent resistance to thermal
shock, various caustics and mild
acids
•Unlimited mil thickness in single
application
• Weather tolerant: cures - 25°F to >
300°F (even in high humidity)
• Flexible for bridging cracks
Chemline’s rapid-curing polyurea
coatings are designed for use on concrete
and precast concrete surfaces including:
manhole interiors, decorative precast
lawn ornaments, bridge deck supports
(i.e. girders, deck plates and vertical-sup-port columns), parking deck structures,
tank farm containment basins, wastewa-ter treatment plants/holding basins, pulp/
paper mill floors, containment walls, exterior basement waterproofing and potable water containment.
LiquidGlide Commercializes
Slippery Coating for Paint
Tanks
LiquiGlide Inc. has announced it is expanding its super-slippery coating platform beyond consumer packaging to
focus on applications in manufacturing.
With the patented LiquiGlide Clean TanX
system, the company is providing a com-
plete industry solution that addresses
the manufacturing challenges created by
viscous liquids sticking to equipment,
such as blenders, reactors and tanks. In
manufacturing tank applications, the sys-
tem has been shown to reduce up to 95%
of product waste, wash water and the as-
sociated cleaning costs.
LiquiGlide’s CleanTanX system is
custom-engineered for each coating application depending on manufacturing
specifications and product properties.
The technology is retrofitted onsite by
LiquiGlide, without having to remove
equipment, which minimizes installation costs and operational downtime.
In addition, LiquiGlide works closely
with its customers to validate coating
performance, product compatibility
and cost savings.
Overall, the CleanTanX system pro-
vides significant sustainability and prof-
itability benefits for manufacturers of
viscous or sticky products, including:
• Dramatically reduced material and
operating costs through improved
product yields;
•Virtually eliminating waste water
generation and related fresh water
consumption;
•Reduced employee safety risk by
minimizing confined space entries
for manual cleaning;
•Mitigated bacterial contamination
and corrosion; and
• Increased capital utilization by re-
ducing equipment cleaning time be-
tween batches.
LiquiGlide’s CleanTanX technology
was invented at MIT and is based on the
groundbreaking science of liquid-impreg-nated surfaces. The company’s patented,
permanently wet coatings create lubricated surfaces that eliminate the no-slip
boundary condition between viscous liquids and solid surfaces that causes products to stick to tank walls resulting in
costly product losses and waste. Coating
durability and performance has been
proven in a number of applications and
in tank installations. CW
