PPG has made two executive ap- pointments. Jane Valenta will become vice president technical, global
architectural coatings,
reporting jointly to David
Bem, vice president, science and technology, and
chief technology officer,
and Jean-Marie Greindl,
senior vice president,
global architectural coatings, and president, PPG
Europe, Middle East and
Africa. In this new role,
she will lead the global
architectural coatings
technical teams in developing a robust products-innovation process and new technologies
to support PPG’s growth. Valenta is currently vice president, environment, health
and safety (EHS).
Mark Cancilla will replace Valenta
as vice president, EHS, with oversight of
PPG’s global EHS organization. He will
report to Tim Knavish, senior vice president, global automotive coatings, in this
key leadership role. Cancilla is currently
global platform director for coatings in
PPG’s aerospace business.
Axalta Welcomes Deborah
J. Kissire to Its Board of
Directors
Axalta Coating Systems has announced
that Deborah J. Kissire has joined the
company’s Board of Directors on which
she will Chair the Nominating and
Corporate Governance Committee and
serve on the Compensation Committee.
Kissire currently serves on the boards of
directors and audit committees for Cable
One, Inc., a leading American cable ser-
vice provider, and Omnicom Group, Inc.,
a global marketing and corporate commu-
nications holding company based in the
U.S. In 2015, she retired as vice chair and
regional managing partner from Ernst &
Young, L.L.P. (EY), where she also served
as a member of their Americas Executive
Board and Global Practice Group.
Changes in the Board of
Executive Directors of BASF
The Supervisory Board of BASF SE
has appointed Saori Dubourg and
Dr. Markus Kamieth to the Board of
Executive Directors effective May 13,
2017. Dubourg has been head of BASF’s
Health & Nutrition division since 2013.
Kamieth has led BASF’s Coatings division
since 2012.
Margret Suckale will retire with the
expiration of her contract following the
Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on May
12, 2017. At the same time, Dr. Harald
Schwager will leave BASF’s Board of
Executive Directors in support of long-term succession planning. Schwager
has been with BASF for 28 years. He
was appointed to the Board in 2008
and is currently responsible for the divisions Construction Chemicals; Crop
Protection; Bioscience Research; and
Region Europe. Suckale joined BASF
in 2009 and has been on the Board
since 2011. She is Industrial Relations
Director and responsible for the divisions Engineering & Maintenance;
Environmental Protection, Health
& Safety; European Site & Verbund
Management; and Human Resources.
Michael O’Shaughnessy
Named President of
BruggemannChemical U.S.
Michael O’Shaughnessy will be assuming the role of president,
BruggemannChemical U.S., Inc. from Ed
McDade III who will retire after 26 years
of service.
Hired in 2015, O’Shaughnessy pre-
viously served as the vice president.
During his 37 years in the chemical in-
dustry O’Shaughnessy has worked with
a variety polymer manufacturers includ-
ing Unocal, DSM NeoResins, Vianova
Resins, Alberdingk Boley, Omnova and
Hexion. He has held commercial, tech-
nical and executive positions and has
worked with water, solvent, high solids,
powder and UV curable systems.
Rodney Taylor Named Vice
President, Innovation, at
Orion Engineered Carbons
Rodney Taylor, Ph.D., has been named
vice president, Innovation, Americas
Region at Orion Engineered Carbons.
Taylor is responsible for leading the development of Carbon Black products and
production processes in the Americas.
Prior to joining Orion in the U.S.,
Taylor served as vice president, Global
Process Development at the company’s
Cologne, Germany technical center.
Taylor is a 35-year veteran of Carbon
Black research and development and
is chairman of the American Carbon
Society. He previously led Columbian
Chemical Company’s Carbon Black research and development function.
Shingo Watada Joins Sto
Corp.
Sto Corp. has announced the appointment of the newest member of its marketing team, Shingo Watada, as product
manager of Coatings, Specialty Finishes
and reStore.
Watada comes to Sto with substantial experience in product marketing and
management. Born in Japan, he received
his education in the U.S., earning his
Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from
Pace University in NYC in 1997.
