Ross Announces New
Features on Ribbon
Blenders
New features are being offered on Ross
Ribbon Blenders for manufacturers re-
quiring extra precision and efficiency.
Ribbon Blenders are used for rapid
blending of dry powders, granules, pellets
and other solid forms. These machines
also mix paste-like materials and solid-
liquid suspensions. Materials are blended
by a horizontal agitator consisting of in-
ner and outer helical ribbons within a
U-shaped trough. The ribbons are pre-
cisely pitched to move materials in a well-
balanced axial and radial flow pattern.
Available is Model 42N-120SS, a 120-
cu.ft. Ribbon Blender. Available features
include:
•Solid agitator shaft with preci-
sion formed ribbons having angled
leading edges to prevent material
build-up.
•Clear view polycarbonate on the
cover and shaft guards. The cover
can also include multiple ports for
ingredient additions, lights, spray
system, venting and vacuum transfer.
Operators can safely view the batch
and charge raw materials while the
agitators are running.
•Air-purged mechanical shaft seals
with replaceable Teflon seal faces.
• Pneumatically-operated spherical
disc valve which provides a large
opening and minimizes dead space.
Discharge connections can be customized to perfectly mate with the
user’s material handling system.
ALFA Launches Color Lab
Dispenser
ALFA is launching on the market integrated solutions to optimize the production of paints with innovations and new
generation dispensers. One of these solutions is the Color Lab: the first instrument
able to dispense simultaneously bases and
colorants to reproduce any tint starting
from 100cc, designed to optimize the
formulation in paint laboratories both in
terms of time and costs.
In order to achieve this, ALFA has designed and patented a pump that can dispense micro drops of 0,0077cc (1/3840
fl oz), one-tenth of the current standard,
with absolute precision and repeatability. This pump is the first real dispensing
technology that does not require repeated
calibrations over time, but only a single
initial set-up that ensures the repeatability of color formulation over time.
The Color Lab is also a green solution, because formulation in 100cc allows
laboratories to save 90% of the product
compared to formulation in one liter.
The saving is therefore not only on the
quantity of product used, but also on the
waste disposal costs. To further optimize
the formulation process, the Color Lab
can be combined with the MINI MIXER,
an epicyclical motion mixer able to mix
simultaneously up to three color samples
in 30 seconds.
The machine is provided with a dedicated integrated Linux PC board and
electronic boards for all main components, which allow to manage and maintain the dispenser from remote.
The most dramatic change ALFA is introducing, is the use of web platforms to
realize the front end of all the applications.
This leads to have a native client-serv-er connection and with it the opportunity
to hold real-time big databases for analysis of processes and device behavior.
