PPG has announced
that Charles E. Bunch
will retire Sept. 1 as executive chairman of the
PPG board of directors
after 37 years with the
company. PPG president and chief executive officer Michael H.
McGarry will become
chairman and CEO effective the same day.
Under Bunch’s leadership, PPG accelerated
its business transformation, becoming the
world’s leading paints
and coatings company
through strategic actions that focused
its business portfolio, and that expanded
and strengthened its international presence. During his tenure as chairman and
CEO, PPG made more than 30 acquisitions and delivered extraordinary growth
and record financial performance, the
company stated.
Bunch has served as executive chairman of the PPG board of directors since
September 2015. He served as PPG chairman and CEO from July 2005 to August
2015. Since joining PPG in 1979, Bunch
held a number of leadership positions
throughout the company. In July 2002,
he was named president, chief operating
officer and board member, and in March
2005, he became president and CEO.
McGarry has served as PPG president and CEO since September 2015.
During his 35 years with PPG, he has
served in a variety of key business
and functional leadership roles in the
United States, Europe and Asia. In recent years, he helped lead several strategic actions that have transformed
PPG’s business portfolio.
Healey Joins PPG Board of
Directors
PPG has announced that Melanie Healey,
The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G),
has been elected to join its board of direc-
tors, effective immediately. She will serve
on the PPG board’s audit committee and its
technology and environ-
ment committee.
Healey worked in
the consumer goods industry for 32 years with
S.C. Johnson & Sons,
Johnson & Johnson and
P&G. She joined P&G,
a leading global provider of branded consumer packaged goods, in 1990 in Brazil.
Healey advanced through various leadership roles in Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela
and the U.S. to eventually become group
president, North America, in 2009 and
then group president and advisor to the
chairman and chief executive in 2015.

has promoted Shamsi Gravel to vice
president, global key accounts in order
to develop, implement and lead Emerald

across all businesses. Gravel has 20 years
of experience focused on specialty chemicals. Since Gravel joined Emerald in 2009,
she has served in various management roles
dedicated to driving success for K-FLEX
plasticizers and coalescents, most recently
as K-FLEX vice president. She also previously held positions with organizations such
as Chemquest, Bostik Findley and National
Starch and Chemical.

With his appointment to chief technology officer, Musa becomes responsible
for the overall coordination of Ashland’s
technical resources and will lead the
Ashland Technology Council, which will
drive technical excellence across the company. He will also lead a Multifunctional
Innovation Team, which will further enhance the innovation pipeline, metrics
and processes for driving new products
faster into the market.
Musa joined Ashland in 2008 when
Ashland acquired International Specialty
Products. He previously held technical and leadership positions at National
Starch/ICI and Henkel.
Changes on the Supervisory
Board of LANXESS AG
Two changes have taken place on
the Supervisory Board of LANXESS
AG. After more than eleven years,
Gisela Seidel stepped down from the
Supervisory Board of LANXESS AG prior to her upcoming retirement. She was
succeeded by Ifraim Tairi, chairman of
the Dormagen Works Council. Dr. Heike
Hanagarth was appointed by a court as
a member of the Supervisory Board of
LANXESS AG. She succeeds Claudia
Nemat, who had served as a member
of the supervisory body of the Cologne-based corporation since July 2013. CW
