The Material Handling Industry of
America (MHIA) has made several key
appointments to its sales and events staff.
Tom Carbott has been promoted to vice
president of sales and
events. He will be responsible for both sales and
exhibitor services for the
ProMat and NA 2010 trade
events.
Two members of Carbott’s
BAER
staff have also been promot-
ed. Greg Baer has been named manager of
sales, and Andy Revels has been appointed
senior sales representative.

Vocollect, a developer of voice-directed
systems, has appointed Larry Sweeney to
the board of directors for Vocollect Japan Inc.
Sweeney, the company’s co-founder, has
embarked on a long-term assignment in
Japan in which he will take a central role in
expanding the company’s reach across Japan
and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Michael Gonzalez has been appointed chief executive
officer of HK Systems. He had previously served the automated material handling and supply chain software company as president and chief operating officer. In his new position, Gonzalez will oversee sales and marketing management, manufacturing operations management, engineering
management, project management, human resources,
accounting services, and legal counsel. He will also join the
HK Systems board of directors. He replaces John Splude,
who is assuming the position of executive chairman. Splude
is now responsible for the company’s domestic and international acquisition strategy and the new HK Production
Logistics subsidiary.
Keogh Consulting has realigned the management staff at
several of its offices. Frank Renshaw is now principal and
Todd Kovi is associate principal at the Palm Beach Gardens,
Fla., office. In the Cleveland office, Scott Sprague is principal
and John Lemire is associate principal. And in Dallas,
Norman Saenz Jr. is associate principal.
Pacer International has appointed James Commiskey vice
president, business development - automotive for its Pacer
Stacktrain intermodal unit. Commiskey will be responsible for
sales and for coordinating the unit’s marketing efforts.
The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors
(NAW) has elected new officers. The chairman is Chip
Hornsby of Britain-based Wolseley, PLC. The chairman-elect
is Robert Taylor of Do It Best Corp. Dennis Hatchell of Alex
Lee Inc. is the first vice chairman. Mark Kramer of Laird
Plastics Inc. is the second vice chairman. And the secretary of
the association is Robert Aiken of U.S. Foodservice Inc. They
join NAW President and CEO Dirk Van Dongen and other
members on the organization’s board of directors.
Schneider Electric has made three major management
changes. Chris Curtis, president and CEO of the Schneider
Electric North American Operating Division, will now also
head the company’s building automation and renewables
business. Amelia Huntingdon has been named chief operating officer and president of Schneider Electric USA. She has
been with Schneider for 20 years, most recently as president
and CEO of Juno Lighting Group. And Thomas Insprucker
has been promoted to director of the global Web business
program. He joined the company’s Square D division in 1985
and has held several executive positions, including VP of
marketing and VP of e-business.
The Port of Tacoma (Wash.) has announced two appointments in its environmental management area. Jason Jordan
has been hired as senior environmental manager. He previously worked as the senior environmental program manager
at the Port of Seattle. Ron Stuart has joined the company as
environmental project manager - air quality. He spent the
previous 21 years with Simpson Tacoma Kraft Co.
Bluestar, a Kentucky-based distributor of auto ID, mobility, and RFID products, has made two personnel announcements. Rob Dorsey has been promoted to vice president of
U.S. sales. He had been national director of sales. Chris
Sheppard has joined the company as business development
manager. Sheppard will manage Bluestar’s channel market
and business development for Datalogic Scanning and
Datalogic Mobile products.
Joseph Dell’Anno has joined Handl-it Inc. as a sales representative. Handl-it is a public and contract warehousing
company based in Bedford Heights, Ohio.
William “Bill” Grace has been chosen as the chairman of
the board of directors for Virginia International Terminals
Inc. (VIT), the terminal operating company for the Virginia
Port Authority. Grace, who served on the Virginia Port
Authority Board of Commissioners from 1997–2007, became
a member of the VIT board in 2008.
