Going yard. AeroScout has teamed up with Psion
Teklogix to provide an asset management and tracking system for Glovis Alabama, a consolidation facility for the
Hyundai Automotive Group. The new system uses wireless
computing products from Psion Teklogix and AeroScout’s
Wi-Fi Active RFID Yard Management solution to track containers and yard vehicles as they enter, travel within, and
leave the facility’s yard.
A turn for the better. Logistics service provider Schenker
Canada has chosen the Smart Turn Inventory and Warehouse
Management System to track its inventory and streamline
the delivery process. The Smart Turn solution is offered on a
software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis.
Port side. The Georgia Port Authority and the South
Carolina State Port Authority have chosen engineering firm
Moffatt & Nichols to manage the initial stages of the Jasper
Ocean Terminal construction project. The Jasper Ocean
Terminal, which is being developed jointly by Georgia and
South Carolina, will be located on the Savannah River.
Real-time fleet management. Cadec Global, a supplier of
fleet management solutions, and Blue Sky Technologies, a
specialist in real-time supply chain software, have teamed up
to develop software to help truck fleets collect data needed
for decision making. The first product of the partnership is
Mobius Insight, an add-on to Cadec’s Mobius TTS fleet management software that provides preconfigured dashboards
for transportation executives on safety, customer service,
compliance, maintenance, and costs.
I’ll take Manhattan. We Pack Logistics, a third-party logistics service provider that operates 16 facilities throughout
Texas and North Carolina, has gone live with Manhattan
Associates’ ILS Integrated Logistics Solutions suite. Built on
Microsoft .NET, the software suite includes billing management, labor management, transportation lifecycle management, and slotting optimization solutions.
That’s a relief. APICS has joined the American Logistics Aid
Network (ALAN). ALAN connects relief agencies responding to
disasters with resources within the supply chain community.
