Manifest destiny: Cornerstone Automation Systems Inc. (CASI) introduces the
ShipMaster 900 Inline Shipping System. The ShipMaster system is an all-inclusive product that automates the shipping process from the point where the cartons are packed.
ShipMaster is able to scan an order ID, weigh the order, print and apply the shipping
label, verify the label, and manifest the carton—all within a footprint of about 10 to 15 feet
(depending on carton sizes). The company offers options for both turnkey installations
(fully installed with factory acceptance) and lower-cost shared systems installations. Typical
systems replace two to four manual operators and process up to 20 cartons per minute.

Power up: Diversified industrial manufacturer
Eaton Corp. presents the PSG Series of power
supplies. This general-purpose family of power
supplies is designed to cover the majority of
24V direct current (DC) control applications
and can be used in a variety of material handling equipment and other systems powered
by DC voltage. These power supplies offer
global certifications, increased safety features, a
small footprint, and an expansive operating
temperature range from - 20°C to 75°C. The
PSG family includes eight DIN-rail mounted
power supplies, with varying input and output
ratings, ranging from 2. 5 to 20 amperes.
The PSG Series was designed with a number of safety features. When flammable materials are present, Class I, Division II protection
guards the PSG from sparking. Large screw
thermals with finger-safe protective covers
allow for easy access when wiring the unit,
and do not require special tools or tiny screwdrivers.
The series provides a Mean Time Between
Failures (MTBF) rating of up to 800,000 hours,
which minimizes the need for field maintenance and replacement. The power supplies
feature wide operating temperature ranges for
clean power, even in harsh environments. The
rugged all-metal housing reduces the potential
for damage to internal electronics. And LED
indicators reduce troubleshooting time. (Eaton

Raising the bar: IDAutomation announces the
release of its GS1 DataBar Barcode Font, which
allows easy generation of DataBar bar codes.
DataBar is a new type of bar code that is over
50 percent smaller than current UPC and EAN
bar codes and may be used in all POS systems
after Jan. 1, 2010. It encodes GTIN, UPC, and
EAN data and may include additional information such as weight, expiration date, and serial
numbers in a single bar code.
The IDAutomation GS1 DataBar Barcode
Font Package includes TrueType, OpenType,
PostScript, and PCL fonts that support all
DataBar variants, including omni-directional,
limited, stacked, and expanded types. The
package is available for download and
includes encoders in VB, Java, C++, and .NET
for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Unix operating
systems. The Windows setup application provided in the download includes examples for
Excel, Word, Access, and Crystal Reports. An
online encoder is also available to generate
bar codes one at a time for desktop publishing applications like PhotoShop, and is compatible with the Mac. (IDAutomation,
