Lend me your ears: Vocollect, a company that provides voice systems for improving supply chain performance, has unveiled its newest headset, the SR- 15. The new headset, a behind-the-head model, is designed to provide ergonomic benefits that increase productivity and worker satisfaction.

The SR- 15 is ideal for employees performing fast-paced mobile tasks, but who cannot wear typical over-the-head model headsets due to hair style, religious headwear, or comfort issues.

While all Vocollect headsets are designed to balance user comfort with full-shift industrial durability, comfort is a uniquely individual preference. The new SR- 15 features an earpiece that allows workers to operate comfortably through a full eight-hour shift. Unlike over-the-head models, which require a strong clamping force, the SR- 15 is designed to be gently positioned on the ears with very little force. The headset is adjustable for either the right or left ear.

Offering the same high-quality voice recognition performance and features as other Vocollect SR Series headsets, the SR- 15 offers a balance between a rugged industrial headset and lightweight headset. Small, but powerful: Motorola Inc. has introduced the MC55, the smallest and lightest member of Motorola’s family of Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDA). Featuring a 3.5-inch display, the MC55 is designed for use by mobile workers inside and outside an organization’s four walls. It leverages Motorola’s mobile computing platform architecture and combines the power of a cell phone, two-way radio, bar-code scanner, digital camera, and mobile computer in a compact and lightweight design. The new MC55 EDA helps organizations improve productivity, customer response times, and customer service levels.

The MC55 mid-range EDA supports the GSM/GPRS/EDGE standard for wireless wide-area networks. Features like an integrated GPS enable the new MC55 EDA to support a host of real-time location-based applications, including providing directions for drivers and real-time fleet location, geo-fencing, and bread-crumbing for dispatchers.

Run with scissors: As the sole distributor of Aichi scissor lifts and wheeled and crawler boom lifts in the United States, Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. has expanded its product line to include four new models of Aichi’s SV-Series scissor lifts and two models of its SR-Series crawler boom lifts. The four new models in the SV-Series include 15- and 19-foot-high models with 30-inch platform widths, and 26- and 32-foot-high models with 46-inch platform widths. These models are in addition to the two existing models, which are available in 20- and 26-foot heights with 32-inch wide platforms.

The entire product line features an AC motor drive system with brushless technology to provide top performance with minimal service requirements. The drive system provides longer duty cycles and faster traveling speeds (up to one and a half times faster). Because there are fewer moving parts, maintenance on the scissor lifts is sim-

pler. In addition, the manufacturer has made access for inspections easier by mounting major assemblies on swing-out panels. Batteries are housed in an easy slide-out compartment for full access.

The new SR-Series crawler boom lift models include the SR400C (a 40-foot model) and SR460CJ ( 46 feet with jib). These join four other 60- and 70-foot models offered by Aichi. They feature a powerful Yanmar diesel engine as well as a standard harsh environment package with wipers on the boom sections, boots on the cylinders, and protection on pivots and bearing points, making them well suited for work in yards and marine terminal dock areas.
