Special delivery: YRC Inc. has launched YRC Residential Solutions, a “white glove” service that makes it simple for businesses to deliver large shipments directly to consumers’ homes and work places. Offered through a strategic partnership with residential delivery specialist STI, the new service makes use of YRC’s comprehensive North American network in conjunction with STI’s expert “final mile” delivery agents to ensure shipments arrive at consumer destinations reliably and efficiently.

Shipments are picked up by YRC professionals for delivery to one of 162 STI locations. The last leg of the deliveries—the final mile—is managed by STI. As part of this collaboration, YRC Residential Solutions offers complete business-to-consumer shipping solutions to all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Retailers can customize the solution based on a shipment’s requirements and the delivery environment via three levels of service: Standard Threshold Delivery, Premier Inside Delivery, and Premier Plus Inside Delivery. (YRC Worldwide Inc., www.yrcw.com)

Share and share alike: Aljex Software introduces Aljex Inbound, a hosted service that enables 3PL brokers to facilitate and control their shippers’ inbound freight moves. With Aljex Inbound, the 3PL, its customer, and the customer’s vendors can share information quickly and easily—all with the 3PL’s oversight.

A 3PL broker sets up limited password access for a customer and its vendors. The system then allows each party to provide information the others need. Aljex Inbound can eliminate phone time and the data re-entry errors associated with working by phone. (Aljex Software Inc., www.aljex.com)

On a roll: Creform Corp. has introduced the Mobile Laptop Computer Station, a rolling work-station that lets employees set up their computers wherever they need within a manufacturing or distribution facility. The new station provides a space for a laptop that is secure and ergonomi-cally positioned at a comfortable work height, eliminating the need for workers to balance computers on their laps.

The workstation’s four large-diameter swivel casters ensure easy rolling and maneuverability, with two casters that can be locked for greater safety and stability while working. The station, which measures 42 inches wide, 38 inches high, and 26 inches long, is custom configurable. (Creform Corp., www.creform.com)

As EZ as A-BE-Z: Hytrol introduces The Long Zone Concept, a new and innovative way to use the company’s ABEZ conveyor that can make conveyor systems more affordable than ever before. The Long Zone Concept allows for the use of zones up to 10 feet long with fewer EZLogic zone controllers and produces dense product accumulation.

The Long Zone Concept ultimately reduces system costs while continuing to deliver the benefits of the EZLogic accumulation system to customers, according to the manufacturer. (Hytrol Conveyor Co.

Management potential: Network Global Logistics (NGL), a provider of supply chain, logistics, and transportation services, has expanded its capabilities to include transportation management. Through this new service, NGL provides support for a wide array of transportation activities, including parcel freight, LTL and truckload shipments, intermodal freight, and global air freight.

NGL’s transportation management service offering is powered by the company’s transportation management system. The system allows customers to obtain quotes as well as track and trace their shipments online in real time. (Network Global Logistics (NGL), www.nglog.com)
