Up to standards: Hi-G-Tek, a developer of
active-RFID (radio-frequency identification)
solutions for tracking high-value cargo and sensitive materials, unveils its 18. 7 Secure Series.
The new product line, which includes both
transponders (tags) and interrogators (
readers), meets the ISO 18000-7 active-RFID technology standard.
The ISO 18000-7 standard protocol, now
required by the U.S. Department of Defense for
use around the world, operates at 433 megahertz. This frequency features low power consumption that allows the incorporation of various sensor attributes, including temperature,
humidity, shock, light, and location. In addition,
the standard establishes a method for the automatic identification of assets at distances of up
to 100 meters (328 feet). (Hi-G-Tek,

Dock lock: Nordock’s AR-9000 rotating-hook
vehicle restraint is designed to prevent
unscheduled trailer departures, trailer creep,
and tip-overs. The unit,
which secures a trailer at the
loading dock by engaging
the rear impact guard
with a large rotating hook,
features an improved direct
drive system that eliminates
clutches, chains, or brakes.
The restraint’s housing automatically adjusts
to the various truck heights and maintains position with the rear impact guard during loading.
The housing lowers to just 9 inches above
ground, which protects it from damage from low
rear impact guards.
The AR-9000 will secure all trucks with a
32,000-pound restraining force. A fault sensor
alerts the operator if no rear impact guard is
detected. The restraint is controlled by a programmable logic controller and has dock leveler interlock capabilities. (Nordock, www.nor-dockinc.com)

EZ printing: Godex has introduced the EZ1105 desktop thermal transfer bar-code
printer. The EZ1105, which is aimed at customers who want a robust thermal transfer printer at an affordable price, includes an auto-adapt media sensor that allows the
unit to print on a variety of thermal transfer substrates. Free QLabel design software
with a database capability is included. A large selection of bitmap and scalable fonts
can be downloaded to the printer via the QLabel software.
Seagull Scientific Windows drivers provide seamless integration with all Windows
applications, according to the manufacturer. A 300-dpi version called the EZ1305 is
also available for printing high-resolution graphics. (Godex, www.godexintl.com)
