; DSC Logistics has promoted David
Copeland to chief financial officer and
Mark Spanier to senior director of
accounting operations. In his expanded role, Copeland will manage and
assess the financial risks and health of
the company. Spanier will continue to
oversee the general accounting,
accounts payable, and payroll teams
as well as take on responsibility for
the company’s financial systems and
travel support function. He will also
initiate and lead finance projects.
; Sheryl Pattek has been appointed vice
president of marketing for Ryder
System’s Fleet Management Solutions
(FMS) business segment. Pattek, who
brings more than 20 years of experience
in marketing strategy and management
to her new role, will be responsible for
supporting FMS business growth with
new product and service marketing,
driving demand for existing products
and services, as well as providing marketing support to the sales organization.
; Tom Kimball has been
hired as vice president of
global operations and
innovation at Kalstar, a
third-party logistics service provider. Kimball will
act as the primary liaison
to Procter & Gamble,
one of Kalstar’s major clients. He comes
to Kalstar from Kraft Foods, where he
served as senior director of network
demand and inventory management.

; UPS has appointed Romaine Seguin,
a 27-year UPS veteran, president of the
UPS Americas Region with responsibility for Canada, Latin America, and the
Caribbean. Seguin, formerly chief
operating officer of the UPS Europe,
Middle East, and Africa Region, will
now be responsible for all UPS package
and cargo operations in more than 50
countries and territories, and will oversee UPS Supply Chain Solutions operations throughout the Americas region.
; Duane Long, chairman at Longistics,
has been elected vice chairman of the
American Trucking Associations
(ATA). Long, currently chair of ATA’s
Insurance Task Force, has previously
served as the organization’s vice president at large and state vice president.
; APL Logistics has hired two veteran
intermodal experts. Mike Deegan is the
new general manager for highway
services, and Jerry Plummer is the new
head of business development for
highway services. Deegan will manage
the company’s stable of highway motor
carriers and oversee highway services
operations. Plummer will be responsible for APL Logistics’ sales effort in
highway services and for land transport
services in the Pacific Northwest.
; Greatwide Logistics Services, a
national provider of third-party logistics services, has hired Brad Taylor as
its new vice president of sales. Taylor
will oversee all Greatwide sales, pricing, and engineering activities. Taylor
joins Greatwide after 19 years at
Schneider National, where he most
recently served as vice president of
truckload commercial management.
; The Supply Chain Council has
announced its new board officers.
John Sells, senior manager of logistics
and sustainment at Lockheed Martin,
is the organization’s new chair. Gary
Kilponen, vice president of operations
at Cameron Valves and Measurement
Group, is chair-elect. Nancy Craft,
director of customer loyalty at Volvo,
is the new secretary. Larry Lichter, vice
president of supply chain planning
and customer fulfillment at
McCormick & Co., is treasurer. And
David Malenfant, vice president of
global supply chain at Alcon Labs, is
the immediate past chair.
