; Pet project. Damco has renewed its contract with Petco as the specialty retailer’s exclusive customs brokerage solutions provider in North America. Under the contract, Damco will handle Petco’s brokerage at all U.S. import ports for four of the company’s 10 national distribution centers.

; Oui. Socadis, a company that distributes French books in the Canadian market, has selected Tecsys’s warehouse management software (WMS) to automate and reduce the cost of its warehouse operations, increase its distribution capacity, and improve order turnaround.

; Fresh from the oven. Hostess, the maker of Twinkies, HoHos, and other baked goods, has contracted with Greatwide Logistics Services for dedicated delivery services in Southern Florida. Greatwide will deliver fresh baked goods from the Hostess bakery in Orlando to eight distribution centers throughout South Florida, including Miami.

; Coke gets it. Peninsula Beverages (PenBev), one of South Africa’s largest distributors of Coca-Cola products, has selected Logility Voyager Solutions for demand planning. Logility Voyager Solutions will enable PenBev to quickly generate and track forecasts for multiple business needs, including logistics.

; Under control. Fortna has announced that it has successfully retrofitted three of Tech Data Corp.’s U.S. DCs with its warehouse control system, Fortna WCS. The new software will increase visibility into daily order volumes and create efficiencies with the existing warehouse management software and automation systems. Plans are in place to roll the system out to the technology distributor’s three remaining U.S. facilities.

; Giving it a whirl. Whirlpool UK, the appliance manufacturer’s British subsidiary, has outsourced the management of its UK national distribution center to Norbert Dentressangle, a French transport and logistics company. Under the three-year contract, Norbert Dentressangle will take over the management of Whirlpool’s 250,000-square-foot national DC at Aylesford in Kent. However, Whirlpool will continue to manage its own inbound and outbound operations.

; Sweet deal. Boboli International, a manufacturer of specialty frozen pastry products, has chosen Peco Pallet as its exclusive pallet supplier. Boboli will use Peco’s signature red rental pallets to ship goods from its Stockton, Calif., headquarters to retailers and foodservice distributors throughout the country.

; In the jean pool. Jordache Enterprises, a designer and manufacturer of denim apparel and accessories, has deployed Psion’s 7535 rugged handheld computers for picking, packing, and receiving inventory at its largest distribution center. The units were provided by Millennium Technologies, a Psion reseller.

; Fruitful relationship. Dole Food Co. has selected Descartes Systems’ Global Filer to manage its import and export customs filings in compliance with the new European Union regulations. Global Filer is part of Descartes’ Global Trade Compliance software suite.

; Going to Kansas City. NACCO Materials Handling Group has chosen Bublitz Material Handling as the exclusive distributor of Hyster forklifts in the Kansas City region. Both the Yale and Hyster brands will be stocked at the Bublitz location in North Kansas City.
