Viva la Revolución!
ARE YOU READY FOR THE REVOLUTION? ACCORDING TO THE
Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), supply chain

focus on such topics as changes in the third-party logistics industry, gaps and
challenges in cold chain networks, and emerging supply chain technologies.

Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for four pre-conference

The role of the warehouse in the supply chain is changing. Today, these facilities are
increasingly expected to be customer-focused operations that are part of a total
logistics network.
An online course from the Institute of Logistical Management looks at how to prepare
for those changes. Simply named Warehousing Management, the course is designed
to familiarize students with the role of the warehousing function in the supply chain.
Students will learn how various types of material handling and information systems can not only cut costs but also improve customer service. They will also look at
best practices for setting up a new warehouse or DC and the differences between
private and public warehousing.

Revolution in Libya can cause gas prices in Chicago to skyrocket. A tsunami
in Japan can send car prices soaring in Southern California. Today’s globally
connected economy requires organizations to respond quickly to market
changes to stay ahead. Supply chains have had to become more responsive to
economic fluctuations as well as environmental and political disruptions.
At the Supply Chain Council’s Executive Summit North America, top
business leaders will share their success stories and strategies for overcoming
global supply chain disruptions and improving supply chain performance.
Discussion topics will include how to react to commodity price swings, transportation constraints, and shifting global labor costs.
The event will take place at the Miramonte Spa and Resort in Palm Springs,
Calif., from Sept. 28–30. For information, visit www.scc-execsummit.org. ;
