Try our “TIPS”
for SUCCESS
Welcome to our first annual special digital issue featuring the best “how-to” articles from CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly and DC VELOCITY magazines.
In today’s volatile economy, supply chain and logistics managers confront
a range of problems on a daily basis. To help them address those challenges,
both publications have often featured “how-to” articles that provide practical tips and guidelines for improving logistics and supply chain operations.
We have selected the most popular of these articles from the 2011 and 2012
print editions of CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly and DC VELOCITY to
create this compendium—aptly named “Tip Sheet 2012.”
There’s something for everyone in this unique collection. For example,
from the pages of DC VELOCITY, we chose an article that explains how
shippers can help their carriers be more efficient and cost-effective—and
lower their own costs as a result. Another details the steps for selecting
transportation management software, while a third examines the best way
to plan for installing a material handling system. The remaining selections
from DC VELOCITY offer advice on the important topics of dock safety,
conveyor performance, forklift driver training, and cubing and weighing.
From CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly, we chose some of the best-read
articles from the past year, including a story on how to segment the supply
chain to serve different customers. Another article offers insight into when a
company should redesign its supply chain. We’re also reprising one of the
most popular articles we’ve ever published, on the top 10 best practices for
supply chains. Other Supply Chain Quarterly articles explain new ways to
apply supply chain analytics, how to turn reverse logistics into a profit center, and how to evaluate whether to bring manufacturing back from overseas.
“Tip Sheet 2012” offers a treasure trove of practical advice. We’re confident you’ll keep this special issue on your digital bookshelf so you can refer
to these articles again and again. And because we’ve created it in digital format, you can access it anytime, anywhere on your desktop or via mobile
device, including our very popular tablet version for iPad and Android.
