Battery monitor: Applied Energy Solutions has released a redesigned, faster, and more efficient battery information transmitting (BIT) device. The new BIT monitors battery performance and health, and alerts the user of adverse operating conditions over the entire battery life.

The product works with wireless RF communication systems to transmit data to a graphical interface that allows the user to detect patterns, identify problems, and convert data into spread-sheets.

The BIT logs critical parameters, including voltage, electrolyte level, temperature, and total throughput. The Web-based version of the device can alert the user by e-mail and text message if the battery is under or over voltage, needs to be watered, is overheated, or is over or under current ranges.

The BIT has a rugged case that resists impacts, water, and electrolyte spills. According to Applied Energy, the device is small and fits between inter-cell connectors. Void-fill packaging: Wonderfil Wrap by Sealed Air is a completely reusable and inflatable void-fill packaging solution that consists of a wall-mount-able automatic inflator and inflatable polyethylene wraps. The polyethylene wraps feature a valve that allows users to deflate the packaging after use, so it can later be re-inflated and re-used.

The Wonderfil Wrap system works by inflating an entire sheet of polyethylene Wonderfil Wrap material with the unit’s inflator fan, which automatically stops once the sheet is inflated. After the operator removes the inflated wrap, the next wrap in the cartridge automatically inflates. The system requires no heat sealing or cutting onsite.

According to Sealed Air, the Wonderfil Wrap system is more compact than most inflatable void-fill packaging systems, making it suitable for small- to medium-volume operations with limited space. (Sealed Air, www.wonderfilwrap.com)

Part partitions and dividers: Mills Industries’ plastic corrugated part partitions and dividers are made of polypropylene plastic that is 100- percent recyclable. The packaging material is also available with recycled content and is reusable, outlasting corrugated paper or chipboard alternatives, according to the manufacturer. Using these part partitions eliminates the need to individually bag parts.

The partitions are nonabrasive to most surfaces, will not support mold growth, and are free of sulfur and other contaminants commonly found in paper-based packaging material. (Mills Industries, www.millsind.com)
