Sorter maintenance software: Intelligrated has announced performance-moni-toring enhancements to its I-Watch sorter maintenance software. The upgraded I-Watch software enables Intelligrated technicians to complete regular, remote analyses of the performance and condition of IntelliSort sliding shoe sorters.
I-Watch now transmits 145 sorter performance data points daily—including wear
characteristics, operational statistics, and maintenance alarms/events—to
Intelligrated’s customer service and support team. Technical service personnel conduct regular reviews of the data to identify abnormalities and then diagnose and
resolve problems. (Intelligrated, www.intelligrated.com)
Balemaster® balers
put more green in your pocket.
If you are not baling your waste now, or if you are baling manually, then
you’re spending too much time handling empty cardboard boxes. Balemaster®
balers can do the work for you. Balemaster® wide-mouth auto-ty balers send
money to your bottom line in many ways. Here are just two:
1. Conventional hand tying takes 7 to 10 minutes per bale. But Balemaster®
auto-ty balers process cardboard waste into a dense bale that is
automatically and securely tied in less than 30 seconds.
2. Balemaster® balers produce bales with the highest density per cubic foot.
So there’s more material per volume than any other baler. This reduces
annual baling wire costs and maximizes recycling revenue per load.
Balemaster® balers are engineered to save energy, improve efficiency, reduce
wire usage, and lower maintenance costs. Being green is good business. But
pocketing green is even better.
Don’t crunch the numbers any other way.
Forklift monitoring system: Hyster has
unveiled a new wireless monitoring system to
keep tabs on the performance and use of
Hyster lift trucks. Known as Hyster Tracker,
the system provides a tiered offering of wireless monitoring, wireless access, and wireless
verifications.
With basic monitoring, companies can
track the lift truck’s hour meter, cost of operation, periodic maintenance, fault codes,
impacts, operator training, park-brake and
seatbelt violations, and speed alerts. The system can be set up to automatically send e-mails when certain faults or impacts occur.
With the wireless access tier, managers not
only have access to the remote lift truck monitoring described above but can also control
operator access and idle shutdown. For operator access, Hyster Tracker knows who is
operating the equipment and can keep
untrained personnel from accessing or operating a piece of equipment. This increases
operator accountability, which can improve
driving behaviors and reduce damage to
equipment. The idle shutdown feature will
power off equipment after it is idle or unattended for a pre-identified amount of time.
The final wireless verification tier builds on
the previous two to include checklist tracking.
This feature provides onboard prompt-based
verification of equipment issues. This type of
verification allows issues to be addressed and
resolved as quickly as possible, reducing
expenses or potential downtime.
With a further hardware investment, Hyster
Tracker can be linked to existing Wi-Fi
resources. (Hyster Co., www.hyster.com)

Fast charger: Ecotality has introduced what it
says is the fastest opportunity charger yet for
batteries used in the material handling industry. According to the company, patented algorithms allow the Minit-Charger 12 to have the
highest sustained charge rate in the industry
at 250 DC amps.
The Minit-Charger 12 also offers users the
option of programming battery specifications
into each unit. The company says its interactive charge controls ensure a proper charge
while maintaining optimal battery health by
avoiding overcharging. That ability can extend
the useful life of batteries by up to 40 percent, Ecotality says.
The charger works with all battery capacities and voltages from 24 to 80 volts. It is
available with a sequencing option, allowing
one charger to serve two industrial trucks
while reducing AC power requirements.
