Letters to the editor
Re: “Bobby V. and his band of brokers,” Outbound, June 2015
Thank you for recognizing the growth of the Transportation Intermediaries
Association (TIA) in the column “Bobby V. and his band of brokers.”
Bob Voltmann has done a remarkable job as president and CEO, and our staffers
are second to none. I’d like to add another angle here. TIA’s membership consists
of over 1,200 brokers and intermediaries. They’re the majority of the growing $180
billion 3PL industry, accounting for about $1 out of every $5 spent on freight. So
why is TIA growing stronger at a time when many groups are fading?
TIA’s board consists of intelligent, passionate, talented entrepreneurs, each with
inspiring stories behind his or her success. These senior executives are past masters
at charting out expectations and doing what it takes to succeed. TIA is exactly as
we’ve designed it—responsive to member needs and flexible enough to change
direction on a dime, as we often demonstrate.
Bob is an instrumental piece in our success, but make no mistake: Bob’s “flock” is
precisely what moves, inspires, and directs him and our talented staff as they serve
the evolving needs of our members.
Jeffrey G. Tucker, CTB, chairman of the board, Transportation Intermediaries
Association
