Packaging robot: The Hornet 565 is a new
packaging robot that features fast and precise
pick and place capabilities, according to the
manufacturer, Adept Technology Inc.
According to Adept, the high-speed robot
will increase a company’s packaging throughput while reducing its costs. The company
says the Hornet 565 is 25 percent faster and
50 percent lighter than competing robots.
The robot has a lifting capacity of 6. 6
pounds ( 3 kg) and a controller-less architecture. The Hornet is made of corrosion-resistant materials that minimize the risk of
contamination and allow for easy washdown.

Reconfigurable conveyors: FMH Conveyors
has introduced a new “quick-connect” reconfigurable conveyor system called BestConnect.
The new system is engineered so that companies can quickly assemble, link, disassemble,
and rearrange conveyor lines to make the
loading, unloading, and sortation processes
faster and more efficient.
According to the manufacturer,
BestConnect allows customers to easily configure and reconfigure their conveyor systems
to meet their current and future warehouse
management requirements. For example,
loading areas can be reconfigured to meet
changing product dimensions and volumes.
BestConnect is particularly well suited for
those distribution centers that are engaged
in both e-commerce fulfillment and store
replenishment and need to minimize setup
times and space requirements, according to
FMH Conveyors.
The BestConnect units are available in
two standard widths, 24 inches and 30
inches, and have straight sections that can
be ordered in 5-, 7.5-, and 10-foot lengths.
The BestConnect line also includes 90-degree
tapered roller curves and 30- and 45-degree
merges. The entire system locks together
solidly like a bolted rigid conveyor but offers
much more flexibility with its ability to move
on casters. All conveyor sections operate
on 110-volt electrical current and are married together with easy-latching connections.
