Precision conveyor: Dorner has redesigned its 2200 Series
Precision Move Conveyor, engineering it for accurate movement
of product at the specific times, distances, and intervals needed
for components in the manufacturing and packaging processes.
According to the company, Precision Move gives greater prod-
uct control and accuracy to automated applications, including
machine integration,
New features of the conveyor include reverse V-Guide belt
tracking along the entire length of the conveyor to provide
seamless belt performance without the need for side guides;
expanded conveyor sizes that include a small, one-inch-wide
conveyor option with tip-up tail for easy belt removal; and
additional servo motor support with selectable motor model
numbers. (Dorner, www.dornerconveyors.com)
Sortation system: In the spring, Intelligrated introduced its
IntelliSort HDS, a high-density parcel and e-commerce sortation
solution. With a dual-sided design, the new solution accommodates a high density of divert destinations in minimal floor space,
making it ideal for zone-skipping applications that presort orders
according to destination region prior to releasing them to last-mile carriers.
Built on sliding shoe sorter technology,
the IntelliSort HDS provides quiet, accurate,
gentle sortation of a variety of product and
packaging types, including polybags. As
companies face dimensional weight pricing,
reduced secondary packaging, and other e-commerce pressures,
the IntelliSort HDS sorter provides a competitive advantage by
keeping shipping costs low while increasing speed of delivery,
the company says.
The sorter is capable of handling cartons, jiffy mailers, and
polybags with specially designed inductions and discharges. The
positive sliding shoe sorting process uses patented flights and
pushers to ensure precise diverts to the shipping destination. The
result is a compact operation that can fit a high number of destinations in a small footprint, keeping investment low and operational efficiency high. (Intelligrated, www.intelligrated.com)
Narrow-belt sorter:
Dematic, a supplier of material handling systems for the
factory, warehouse, and distribution center, has introduced a narrow-belt sorter
for low- to mid-rate sorting
and diverting applications.
The Dematic narrow-belt
sorter is a modular and scalable solution that optimizes material
flow and sorting accuracy in production operations and distribution center environments.
The sorter is available in two-, four-, six-, or 10-carrier-belt
configurations and accommodates cartons, tote boxes, and trays
of various sizes. The modular design is energy efficient; one drive
unit can accommodate sorter lengths of up to 300 feet. The
entire sorter subsystem includes sound dampening technology
to support quiet operation.
The narrow-belt sorter can be implemented in a multitude
of configurations to accommodate the specific requirements
of the application. It can sort loads to both the left and right
sides using the perpendicular transfer at a 90-degree angle. The
pop-up wheel diverter can sort loads to the left or the right at a
30-degree angle. The Dematic narrow-belt sorter is capable of
operating at rates of up to 50 cartons per minute with the perpendicular transfer and up to 115 cartons per minute with the
pop-up wheel diverter. (Dematic, www.dematic.com)
Conveyor platform: Interroll has introduced several conveyor products in the past year. Among them is the company’s
new modular conveyor platform (MCP) system, which can convey
cartons from labeling to sealing to prestacking at rates of up to
3,000 pieces per hour. Depending on the application’s requirements, the conveyor modules can be equipped with various drive
systems and be combined with one another. Zero-pressure accumulation can be achieved by using the 24-volt RollerDrive concept that operates without any pneumatic actuators. A 400-volt
drive solution that has been optimized to handle high conveying
speeds and extremely heavy goods (up to 110 pounds) is also
available for use in high-performance applications. Other options
include merge cassettes for loading and unloading goods, and
alignment and belt conveyors for overcoming steep inclines.
The company has also introduced its MSC 50 and MSC 80
magnetic speed controllers to the North American market. The
MSC 50 uses two magnets turning in different directions to slow
down boxes as they travel down a gravity roller conveyor. The
heavier the box is, the stronger the force exerted, keeping the
boxes from bumping into each other and causing damage. The
MSC 80 operates under the same principles but is bigger and is
used for pallet flow lanes. (Interroll, www.interroll.us)
