Rideable material lift: Material handling
equipment and safety products maker
Wildeck Inc. has introduced a new category
of vertical material lifts, the rideable material lift. The company says its new RiderLift
Material Lift (RML) is different from a traditional vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) in
that it allows authorized personnel to safely
travel with their material between levels. As a
result, they avoid having to climb stairs or rely
on a co-worker to unload material when the
lift reaches its destination.
Standard car size is six feet long by six feet
wide by 80 inches high, and lifting capacity is
2,500 pounds, including rider. Standard top
lifting height is 14 feet (GND + 1), and lifting
speed is 20 feet per minute.
The RiderLift is available in either “C” or
“Z” loading patterns and features a keyed
“enable” switch inside the car to ensure use
only by authorized personnel. The RiderLift
RML meets ASME A17.1 / CSA B44 code
requirements. Qualified elevator contractors
will install and service the lift and provide the
end user with ongoing state-approved safety
inspections and lift certification, as required by
the A17.1 code. (Wildeck, www.wildeck.com)
Shipment visibility solution: Ryder System
Inc. has rolled out NaviShare, a cloud-based
platform that provides real-time shipment visibility, predictive alerts, and exception dashboards.
The technology is accessible through a cus-tomer-facing website and mobile application
that utilizes cellular and GPS technology to
link shippers with onboard vehicle technologies. The system provides information regarding load status, tracking status, carriers, shippers, customers, origins, and destinations,
and delivers information updates and routing
instructions to drivers.
A user, which can be a shipper, carrier/driv-er, or dispatcher, is able to toggle among multiple features for each load, including stops,
maps, updates, and messages. If there is a
delay in a shipment while in transit, NaviShare
alerts the shipper and recipient, and provides
the shipper with a list of rerouting options.
The software application also has the capability to track shipments at the SKU (
stock-keeping unit) level and to monitor the condition of
the load. The NaviShare platform is transportation management system-agnostic.
Later this year, NaviShare will activate
additional advanced planning and analytics
features, enabling freight capacity sharing as
well as management of shipments through
predictive alerts for weather and traffic delays.
