Mobile workstation: Newcastle Systems has
introduced the Apex Series ergonomic mobile
workstation, a height-adjustable mobile cart
for employees working in a variety of manufacturing applications.
The Apex Series mobile workstation is an
essential component for any organization
that is implementing or enhancing its “
paper-less process,” the company says. Operators
and managers can have full-screen access
to ERP, MES, and other information systems
while on the move. Manufacturing floor
associates can go from standing to sitting
with the touch of a button, enabling them to
complete their tasks more quickly and safely.
Featuring an integrated power system, the
workstation was designed to seamlessly flow
from task to task without cords or costly cable
drops, adding a greater level of efficiency to
every facility.
The workstation has an ergonomic height
range, 30 inches to 48 inches from floor to
top shelf, to accommodate all employees. Its
compact footprint, only 19 inches wide, will
allow associates to navigate narrow aisles and
tight spaces. (Newcastle Systems Inc., www.

Freight marketplace system: Sleek Fleet
LLC has launched a Web- and mobile-enabled
freight marketplace solution that’s designed
to directly connect owner-operators with
loads from the world’s largest shippers.
Sleek Fleet maintains a database of verified
drivers, with full driving histories, insurance
information, and more, and handles all trans-
actions, paying drivers within four hours of
proper paperwork submission. The system is
designed to ensure that there are no large
carriers, brokers, or underqualified drivers
participating in the Sleek Fleet network.
Upon being verified, drivers can log into
the interface, choose from actual loads based
on location and equipment, and submit bids.
Drivers learn immediately if a bid was success-
ful and are paid the exact bid amount, with
no hidden fees or deductions.
Shippers, who pay a flat percentage to
cover the costs of the technology, adminis-
tration, and accounting, experience seamless
integration without disruption to current pro-
cesses. All updates and data flow into existing
enterprise resource planning or transporta-
tion management systems. The technology
eliminates the waste of haggling, avoids fees
imposed by brokers, and provides transparent
cost-structure information that shippers can
leverage to fine-tune their business opera-
tions. (Sleek Fleet, www.sleekfleet.com)
